You will never hear me argue against the value of experience. However, with that said, losing starters, even long term ones, is not always bad. By that strict logic alone, every team would get worse every year unless they were starting all underclassmen. We all know from watching sports for years, that isn't always true.
It should be interesting to watch. It is hard to imagine getting better at CB, but I hear some of these new guys are pretty good. We might get better at Safety, or at least more physical and athletic. For all his brilliant film study and game preparation, Golden was pretty average in terms of speed and physicality. His biggest strength by far was what was going on between his ears. We might be better at LB with guys more experienced. It is hard to imagine improving at the big Aussie's spot, but everywhere else we sure could along the D-Line.
I will want to see the new guys play before drawing conclusions about how good a coaching job it will take. We need good coaching either way, but we might not need miracles after all.
