Gotsis is 100% Confident in DL

Wow. Gotsis joins our team with basically no experience and now he sounds like a coach.

Sounds like Kallon might not be quite ready for the spotlight just yet. Time's almost up.

Kallon is a redshirt Sophomore this year...people forget that sometimes.
True - but its an interesting comparison (Kallon and Gotsis). They are both "juniors" by class as of this fall and neither played much football before they got here. And that is where the similarity ends.

Not a good comparison IMO...Gotsis played on the Aussie National football team..and 8 1/2 years of experience in Aussie football...Kallon had one year of football experience total.

How does that compare to Kallon at all? QBs who have played football all of their lives...and a DL who had been in America and playing football one year when he got to GT.

Kallon was also just growing into his body his Senior year in HS and his 1st year at GT.

This. And to clarify, I think, it was those years of Aussie Gridiron (American football in Australia) and not just Aussie Rules football.

Even if their backgrounds were exactly the same it doesn't mean that much. Different kids mature at different rates in their respective sports and it really doesn't speak at all towards their ultimate potential. Time and time again I have seen players (in many different sports) who had great pro careers after getting little to nothing done in college. I have also seen kids blow up their last year after a quiet first couple of years in college. You never know when a player is going to hit a growth spurt, in a metaphorical sense. If he has the innate ability, like Kallon has, and he is working hard, I will always leave the light on for them. You just don't know. Kallon could blow right past Gotsis the next couple of years. It wouldn't surprise me that much. He is bigger, equally as fast, and possibly more agile. As far as I can see, hand fighting has been Kallon's weakness. He may play a little high too. In Aussie football, I'm sure there is a lot of hand fighting. Kallon was playing soccer his whole life. You get my point. Truth is, I have no idea what to expect. To assume the worst about Kallon is just plain negativity at this point.

At fan day, Gotsis was fricking huge. And solid. And I mean that in comparison to the other DLs we have. All the girls wanted there picture with him so I joked with the other DL that they should have be born Aussie .........

I don't know how everything will turn out on the field. Given the horrors that we have seen with teams raping our DL up the middle the past few years, I'll be ecstatic if he's right. But past performance needs to be proven wrong first IMHO.

You think Lebron would suck as a tight end??

I agree with you for the most part, but rush defense was the bright spot of last year's D, imo, if that's what you meant. We went from #70 at 4.28 yards/carry allowed in 2012 to #18 at 3.57 ypc allowed (4.82 to 3.84 vs FBS). Hopefully, that continues.

I miss you Michael Johnson...:(

I'd rather see us sacking the QB than a big play on offense any day..having a strong D-Line is huge if you want to be successful

MJ wasn't actually a full time starter until his last season on the Flats. He was just a rush specialist till then, and even then he wasn't that great.

MJ didn't really fully blossom until a couple of years into his pro career. People just saw his 6'6 frame and the ability to run like a gazelle and stuck with him because he had a huge upside.

Derrick Morgan on the other hand...

Gotsis also has a full year and a half up on Kallon.

Lebron would do alright until he gets laid out trying to go across the middle of the field.
