The one thing that impresses me with CGC is he understands he's the figurehead and official spokesperson for GT Football. He's always keeping it positive, looking forward, and talking up the program. CGC understands he has to sell GT football every time someone sticks a mic or camera in front of him. He's not talking about what GT doesn't have, he's always looking to where GT is going. Since he was announced, I have yet to hear him talk about what GT doesn't have, but more what GT HAS and other teams don't (i.e. "Not many schools have a meaningful degree like GT..."). IMO, there's no reason to point out what GT doesn't have versus other schools...you're just helping other schools negatively recruit when you do that. Get the kids on campus, show them the plans for GT football, let them see the opportunity that surrounds them in Atlanta, them feel the energy of the city, give them a vision of being an SA at GT both athletically and academically, help them envision the their dreams and how GT will get them there.
IMO, we focus too much on what GT DOESN"T have that we lose sight that GT has a LOT of great things other schools can't compete with. I think TStan sees that, and that's why he was attracted to CGC's vision for GT football. TStan's message has been similar to CGC's from day one. One of the messages that CGC is slowly trying to convey is that being an SA at GT is a selective accomplishment. Only the elite of the elite will be chosen. I like it...because he's making it sound like what 'Bama and Stanford do: If we tap you, it's only because you're at the top 1% of what we're looking for. That sh!t sells.
