No one answered my question do we get the money for playing on Friday or does the ACC get all the TV money and then spilt it to all teams. The ACC agree to play so many Friday games for ESPN

I don't know to be honest. I would hopethe split was an even base for everyone then bonuses for those playing on a nation wide broadcast on ESPN ESPN2. But not sure.

I’m sorry, but a Friday night game is a big nothing-burger compared to a noon Saturday game.

Anyone who disagrees with me obviously hasn’t been to my tailgate for mimosas and croissant-French-toast with fresh blueberries, maple syrup, and raspberry sauce.

(Don’t like mimosas? Try my Bloody Mary with Szechuan-peppercorn infused vodka.)

Honestly—I really do love Saturday morning tailgates, even if it means getting up early and sitting in the broiling sun for the game.

Looks like 12 of the 14 ACC teams have a Friday game, so doubt there is anything extra in it for GT. We're the rule, not the exception.

Tech just can’t win. I’ve said it 1,000 times we are the #1 problem holding the team back, we have the softest whiniest fan base imaginable. The same ones upset now would’ve cried about the heat on Saturday.

You may be correct, but the ones on here I have seen as being not in favor are the same ones that are at all the home games. me, @Supersizethatorder-mutt @stech81 , etc. I have not ever heard them, or me, complain about the heat. (now the color of the jerseys is a different story) Not everyone has to like everything and change is not always a positive.

Wasn’t my intention for anyone on here take my post personal, it’s not attacking any one just a broad statement about the fan base in general. Many other CFB fan bases would have the same mixed reaction, Just always seems like Tech fans go above and beyond.

Plus the MBS Notre Dame game that will probably at least be a 3:30 ABC game. The only other games that might be intriguing that week (on Saturday) are:
  • Miami @ Virginia Tech
  • Washington @ USC
  • Michigan State @ Penn State
  • Tennessee @ Georgia
  • Nebraska @ Iowa
  • TCU @ Texas
UT & uGA will almost definitely get the 3:30 CBS slot, Miami & VT probably ACCN, 1 of the 2 B1G games will get their “big noon” slot. There’s not going to be many games left to compete for a prime time nationally televised slot. There’s a really good chance Tech plays 3 prime time home games this year. When is the last time that happened?
I bet the ND game will be a 7:30 start.

I think if you go back a few years ago the guy in the little blue dress sold out to ESPN to do so many football games on Friday night and that money is spilt even ( not sure still trying to find it) Tv money was for football and basketball. ) and if I remember right that deal goes to 2026 which may have been redone with the ACC network. When it first was talked about Syracuse and Pitt would play one game on Friday nights

Sorry Steam Whistle Did not mean to quote you. I'm old as Sh*t and not sure what I did

This just flat out sucks. Would much rather be playing on the nationally televised (definitely not bussh league) ACC Network at Noon. Nothing says big boy football like regional / conference sports networks that only reach a small percentage of households.
I assume that was sarcasm, otherwise I hate to tell you but only a small percentage of households get the ACC Network.

Its a bush league move fto make the change after season tickets are renewed. This should have been done before. ESPN knew the schedule and could have asked then, however it just further solidifies the truth that fans in the seats are meaningless to the AD's and the powers that run college football. Its a studio sport. Interesting that they surveyed the HS coaches but not the actual people who are asked to foot the bill for all this. I trust Collins on this turnaround, but you piss off your customer base enough and we are going to end up with BB level attendance at football games.

Oh, I do complain about the nooners, but it is what it is.

It was reported today that the Atlantic Coast Conference signed a long-term extension of its TV rights agreement with ESPN. The former 12-year, $1.86 billion deal ran through the 2022-23 season. The new contract extends ESPN's rights to ACC broadcasts through the 2026-27 season, and also gives the network a package of new perks:

ESPN will get new rights, including an additional 30 men's basketball games annually and 14 more conference-controlled football games. Also included, ESPN will be able to televise three Friday ACC football games each season with Boston College and Syracuse each hosting one of those. And, ESPN will also get an afternoon or evening game on Thanksgiving.

USA Today's report says that the rights fees are expected to pay $17 million to each of the 14 conference schools. That means the total deal is worth about $238 million per year, an annual increase of more than $80 million from the previous contract, and $3.6 billion over the contract's 15 year life. The new deal was expected, given the conference's recent expansion.

You haven’t heard them complain about the heat? Where you been pal. Complaints come from the same group of Tech fans regarding gameday. The subject doesn’t matter, but the complaints and moaning are what’s consistent.

Maybe i just tune it out? My bad. My opposition to a Friday game still stands. (not that anyone cares, especially the athletic department) :)

Well I have bad news for you—we are currently nowhere near those programs in terms of relevance. They don’t have to play on Friday night to get on ESPN. Sometimes we do. You may not like that, but it’s reality.

And doing this will hurt our chances of catching up to them.

And getting a game on espn is not near the big deal it was 25 years ago. Won't help recruiting one bit and it will hurt our program.

Twitter is already a dumpster fire of complainers. If I can get home from Kentucky for this game, you can make it from Lawrenceville, I promise......

It's almost like the Ath. Dept. cant do anything right for you all. Just be happy you arent baking in the Georgia sun!

Jesus, we are in GEORGIA!

If people can't take the heat go cheer for U of Alaska.

So you don't like the fact that our coach reached out to the coaches of the players we are recruiting to get their opinion on us playing against a G5 team at night in Sept rather than noon on Saturday, and they said go for it??

So you are saying this is a good thing?

No doubt ugag will follow this brilliant plan in short order.

Primetime night game in September instead of 95 degree heater at noon is now a problem?

Some on here refuse to go to games in September because of the heat of Saturday afternoon game and they beg for night games. We get 2 primetime, made for TV night games in September and folks are still complaining. Is it the GTAA or the fans that are holding us back? (not directed at any individual, but rather a whole section of folks on this board who are never and will never be satisfied.)

It is GTAA being run by nimrods who can't use a slight bit of common sense.
