Navy tied the game up with a nine minute opening drive. They also mentioned that Ken whatever has an offensive coordinator. I do question from a time standpoint if being head coach and offensive coordinator might be too much. By the way, Navy is 6-1.
Jasper calls the plays. CPJ called the plays before he left and Jasper has called the plays since. I believe there were only 2 years in Ken's career where he actually called plays 1997 at Navy after CPJ left for Georgia Southern and 1998 at UNLV. He doesn't call the plays because that not what he does.

OF course that doesn't mean your wrong. I'm just pointing out why Ken doesn't call the plays.

Would he be a good replacement for Sewak? It seems to me that offloading that could help Johnson be more effective as head coach.

Jasper? I don't think he's coach o-line before. He's the Qb/B-back coach and OC I think. Doesn't mean he couldn't coach O-line. If I head to guess I think he would stay there until he gets a head coaching opportunity that he likes. I don't know though. From everything I've heard the coaches at Navy are treated well.

Personally, I don't think it has to do with our ability to block. Most of these guys have already proven themselves before in that regard. "Disoriented" was a good choice of words. Leaving a player unblocked is different than not being able to block him. BTW I am speaking of the OL now. On the edge, out in space, is another story. They are confused too, but they also are ineffective in the blocks they are trying to throw.

To have any hope for the future one must understand why we are so disoriented and make sure it gets fixed. Not that I need to know this, but CPJ does. The fact that it seems to be getting WORSE as we go along this season is the most disheartening aspect to me. That fact strongly suggests that CPJ doesn't know how to fix this (or can't fix this).

I am truly worried now.

Yeah. I have no idea about the root cause of it all. I really don't.

I have often wondered if we could have someone look at film during the game and radio the missed assignments to cpj so he could go over it during the time the defense was on the field.

fairly certain that's common practice? High schools do that.

PJ went over this on the radio show a few years ago. Again, I cannot stress it enough: I highly encourage everyone to GO or listen to the show as there is no substitute for hearing explanations from the man.

To your wondering, every position coach has an assignment during the offensive/defensive series; furthermore, it is their job to fix things that they see. As we all know, PJ is pretty hands-on and will get in there when he needs to, but really, the job of fixing those things are the position coaches.

I think I was at that show. I fully understand the roles of the position coaches. My wondering is more to why we don't use film cuts during the game to show players their mistakes. It is one thing to tell them, it would be another to show them.

What do you mean by "film cuts"?

At that radio show PJ also said that in the college game it is illegal to use overhead photos and send them down to the bench. I imagine that probably applies to video technology as well.

I understand that film/photos taken by the coaches cannot be used in the game, but my understanding of what CPJ said was that this did not apply to the commercial broadcast of the game. Replays are shown on the jumbo TV at the game anyway. It is really no different than a coach pointing to it to show a player where he missed an assignment.

If I understand correctly, you mean why can't do like the NFL and have the cutup of that play on a tablet? Well because it is illegal in the NCAA

So by inference, the position coaches aren't fixing the assignment / blocking problems this year as it appears we are getting worse this year. Last year we got better as the year went on ..... only the players are different ..... and more senior on OL!? We are just Shaqless. And I'm clueless.

There's a lot of inferences. I'd infer that there were some posts by some on this board about WR effort during the ND game that might have meant more than we care to admit. There's a lot that I personally am struggling to comprehend about our offense this season. Past years have been much clearer in areas we can improve. This just isn't fun anymore. I can't post what I want to really say without attacking some players, but I just am disappointed with the mental effort and commitment on display.

Thank you for not posting what you really want to say ... I'd go to bat for our guys' personal character unless they clearly broke the law.

That said, I think it's fine to say, "so-and-so needs to make that block. The play blew up because he couldn't slip past the end to get to the linebacker" than to say, "WHY DOES SO-AND-SO SUCK SO BAD?!!111!! MY GRANDMA CAN MAKE THAT BLOCK!!11!!" During the heat of Internet battle we often slip into the latter and not the former.

More to the inference ... I'm not sure what you're referring to about the WR effort during the ND game ... PJ said that the WR's played the best out of the entire offensive unit that game. For what it's worth, I think Buzz is a very good coach ... think about the guys he has sent to the NFL. I would think, however, that both game preparation and game-time adjustments have been ... disappointing ... by our offensive position groups. I can't offer up any reasons, either. I'm sure PJ and the coaches have a much better idea as to what's going on and I hope they can get everyone's act together.
