ESPN says we have the most predictable offense

If we dressed up like clowns and had a clothing conglomerate sponsor us, we'd be just as predictable as Oregon. They can take their jabs all they want, we'll take the W

I don't think cookie cutter aplies to college football anymore. Everyone is doing something different.

I know people on this board will love the O we won and beat a rival that's had our number. I watched the game with some non fans who were bored. Some games like this one the offense is very methodical and non friendly to the average viewer.
My buddies are all alabama or auburn fans and they loved the game last night. They are true football fans and appreciated our dominance against Miami. They understand the option and what happens in the trenches. Sounds like your friends aren't huge football fans and in that case probably wouldn't appreciate anything other than a deep ball or a play that goes the distance. Not bashing that type of fan but our offense isn't boring to people that really get football, or at least to most people that get it.

I had the perhaps un-fortunate opportunity last night to listen to the game in the Miami airport on the UM station. They started off with alot of cliches about us...UM has better athletes, our D won't be able to hang with them, UM just has to play assigment football, etc. But, I have to say they did a good job calling the game and understanding us as an opponent. The thing that stuck out to me was they said the CROWD and ATMOSPHERE was absolutely phenomenal. They also were completely demoralized by the offense. They knew what was coming, and they just couldn't believe they couldn't stop it. One quote was, "Tech just has too many weapons and too many options....if you stop them here, they get you there". By the end of the game, they were completely in awe! I don't think I've ever felt so proud of our jackets!

Boring to me is incomplete, incomplete, 12 yard reception...incomplete, 4 yard reception, 10 yard reception...incomplete, incomplete, 20 yard reception and so on. Also, the spending 23 seconds with everyone on O standing up, looking at sideline and calling audibles.
Agreed. So, boring... add in there about 6 punts each quarter with no scores from those SEC games... they put me to sleep.

Who watches the game like that over wings and brews at a sports bar? Like I said we're fans. We won. Great game.

There is a perception problem with our offense. I cannot argue with that. However, you are holding this team to an impossibly high standard. When have casual sports fans ever cared much about Georgia Tech football, except in those few years when we are winning big and/or are playing a highly ranked opponent? Last night had neither of those.

Last night, we were a non-ranked team playing against a non-ranked Miami team. If you can honestly tell me that your same buddies would have been excited to watch Georgia Tech play a game against a non-ranked team when Gailey was the coach, then maybe there is something to your rant. However, I am pretty sure the honest answer is that casual fans who didnt like seeing Tech beat Miami last night, wouldn't care about watching Tech against any non-ranked opponent with a different offense. You think your friends would have watched the 6-9 Tech-WF ACC Championship game and said, "man, I don't care about Tech, but that was just a fun game to watch!"

We were highly respected nationally when we won big in 2009, and will be again if we can keep winning. That is the bottom line. If we win, people will watch as much as they ever have. Otherwise, Tech is generally just not a big "casual fan" draw when playing a game against an unranked team, no matter the offense.

Thanks for some real honesty and perspective. I just think people are more like the fast tempo and explosive plays. They got that from the Auburn game. Tech played more methodically so I can understand the difference from a excitment perspective.

Andrea Adelson: The Canes' defense reverted to form and looked lost for most of the night against a team that has the most predictable offense in the ACC.

Q: What's the difference between Perryman and Andrea Adelson's assertions about the offense being predictable?

A: Perryman said it BEFORE the game.

I can't disagree more. This offense is beautiful against a backdrop of cookie cutter offenses that everyone else runs.
All those pitch outs were a thing of beauty! In my less than expert opinion I also believe they are just as hard to complete as passes. That is considering the reads and where the trailing back is.

It's a product of the current "instant gratification" culture. Our offense requires serious thought, sacrifice, and hard work. These traits are not in vogue right now.

I think an exciting aspect of our games is the clock always moving. The games are very short and every possession matters. One thing that doesn't help with TV are the long breaks due to the long sustained drives.

I remember watching a bit of the Georgia-Arkansas game back in 2009 that finished 52-41. It was blown coverage after blown coverage. After about 10 minutes of defensive derp, I changed the channel.
