No reasonable person could argue against the idea that Dwyer was amazing at finishing runs. That would simply be absurd. However, I don't feel that JD was as big a battering ram as some are making him out to be. In fact, I would place several BB's from the CPJ era ahead of him in this regard. IMHO Laskey, Days, Sims and Allen were all better at getting yards 1 through 3. Mills should be on that list too, but I restrict my response to include those who have finished their GT careers. Keep in mind, I am not trying to diminish the value of JD to our program or teams that he played on. Without him, our history would look completely different. His explosiveness carried this offense during a time when our QBs were learning to run it and teams were learning to defend it.
