IIRC, Jarrett Jack graduated about 10 years ago. He did so ostensibly because he promised his mom he'd come back and finish. And he did.Jack yes. Iman no.
Jarrett did it the right way in Dec 2014IIRC, Jarrett Jack graduated about 10 years ago. He did so ostensibly because he promised his mom he'd come back and finish. And he did.
Calvin Johnson (football, I realize it's the wrong forum) has often talked about coming back to finish his degree. I believe Demaryius Thomas was headed that way, too. I know not everyone will come back (and many won't need to do it), but I tend to hope that the notion of "life after basketball" and "life after football" resonates - even with the superstars. Nothing but respect for those who come back and get their degree.
I hope it becomes a trend of Georgia Tech athletes not only excelling on the court/field/diamond/whatever - but also coming back to do the work and finish the academic road they started. The notion that "at Tech, we hold ourselves to a higher standard" is something to be proud of. Nothing but respect for those who put in the effort to finish up.
One of my favorites!Travis Best continues to be one of the most underrated players in GT history. He is well deserving to have his jersey retired
Dennis Scott will be getting his number retired (presumably at some point next season)
Beyond what he did on the Court, his number will never be retired if he didn’t graduate.Random question: where is the James Forrest love at these days? I'm still kinda surprised he didn't make in the NBA. He was such a beast on offense, so hard to guard. Since we're throwing out random names we'd like to see get their jersey retired I'm voting for Forrest. I know he's a special assistant now so...
He graduated from Tech in 1995 according to his bio.Beyond what he did on the Court, his number will never be retired if he didn’t graduate.

Posted on his LinkedIn is BS 1990 and Executive MBA 2023. The 2023 degree enabled his number to be retired. If Dennis got a BA in 1990 or 1993, I do think Coach Cremins would have had his number retired sooner than 2024.He graduated from Tech in 1995 according to his bio.
He actually just joined CDS staff too, so he’s back home!Random question: where is the James Forrest love at these days? I'm still kinda surprised he didn't make in the NBA. 100% agree on a Ring of Honor concept but hang banners with the players names. We have a several deserving players. You don't want to retire many jerseys but should Honor a good number of great players. It's going to be impossible to retire any more jerseys as no one of that caliber will stay long enough at GT.He did graduate. He was simply awesome for us. I have love for all my GT players past and present. If we're finally going to retire jerseys (I prefer a ring of honor system personally) then he should be up there with anyone.
