Actually, Smelter's foray into football last season wa a huge surprise. When you give up a sport for a couple of years and then come back to it, there is generally a lagging time of getting back in the groove. He did some things very well last year, even giving us a solid receiver of punts. He had good hands and looked at ease when he caught the punts.
