I think posters on here just fear the unknown and project that as some sort of possible or potential failure. People need to remind themselves that just because we don't know something doesn't necessarily mean it is cause for concern. For all we know he has already gotten commitments for his entire staff and they just haven't been announced yet for any number of reasons. Maybe they are contacting potential recruits/transfers as individuals not currently associated with Georgia Tech for some advantageous reason that we are not aware of. I prefer to think CDS knows what he is doing and just doesn't care that much if WE know what he is doing which is fine by me as along as we get results.

This. And as true GT fans/students/alums, the way many of us deal with uncertainty is to try and pick the thing apart and identify all the potential points of failure, no matter how insignificant, so we can feel both a) more in control and b) superior to it.

Agreed wholeheartedly with the rest of your take. Nature abhors a vacuum, which is what we have going on right now in terms of news on the BB front - so many of us rush in to fill it with whatever aspect is most appealing to us.

The key is that there may not actually be a vacuum there; it may simply be that we're not seeing everything that's going on behind the scenes. With the way all the football coach hiring drama played out, I'm kinda glad to see less, until something is actually inked and done.

But we won't know how it all turns out until next season. We've got a long way to go, and grasping at straws/reading the tea leaves may keep the discussion moving forward, but it's ultimately sound and fury, signifying nothing. Let's not forget, it would be easy to judge the former HFC on the quality of his initial recruits...and we all saw how that turned out. I'd personally prefer those who've already reached a verdict consider that no news isn't bad news...nor does it indicate anything about whether the coach is a successful hire.

The results that matter for CDS will be on the court, and we've got a long way to go before that starts to play out.

I think that many GT fans are simply down on our programs after a multi-year stretch of poor results...whether it be football, basketball, baseball, women's sports (softball in particular) or whatever. Given the first whiff of adversity in football, the pessimists will be back in force there as well.

CDS jobs to do to make GT competitive in 2023-2024.

1. Remove assistants that were not producing. Done, although I thought we should have kept Wilkins.
2. Keep the players that were producing. So far, so good.
3. Remove players that were not producing. Done, although I don’t know if the 2 freshmen were keepers or not. IMO, one more non producing player to go.
4. Hire 3 assistants. One with national recruiting ties, one with local ties, one to coach. Still to do.
5. Keep Blue Cain. Looks doubtful.
6. Bring in a slasher, a big who can score and a big to defend from the portal. Bring in a shooter, if we lose Cain. We have one, lots of work to do.
1. Done
2. So far so good
3. Done, Maxwell now in the portal
4. Hobbs and Williams look like good hires, one to go.
5. Probably not going to happen
6. 2 good additions, still need a big who can score and a shooter.

Has there been an official announcement re: Hobbs and Williams? I have not seen anything, but I may have missed it.

As far as our official roster turnover, four of our outgoing transfers have 0 starts. They have 1, 2.6, 2.9, and 5.3 minutes per game. Even for underclassmen, they weren’t pushing for time. As for the player who did have points and playing time, Rodney Howard wasn’t playing towards the end of the season under Pastner, and wasn’t scoring a lot of points, making a lot of assists, or getting a lot of rebounds earlier in the season. He was struggling.

I’d have like to have kept a 7-footer, but it looks like we’re looking for people who can play now.
Howard was a sad story. Prior to season Pastner was talking him up , talking about his improvement and saying he was going to be the most valuable player on the team. Even if Pastner was just trying to encourage him it was so over the top it really raised my expectations. The Princeton offense still seemed like a mystery to him and something just never clicked.

Howard had moments at GT where he played like an ACC level center, but there were other times where just seemed lost. I had hopes for him (and he was indeed the key to our last season) that were never satisfied.

I'm not big on Gary Parrish, relative to other pundits, but he speaks highly of Damon Stoudamire and gives a dose of reality about GT Hoops in today's podcast.

Just after the 43 minute mark.

Not just to him—I don’t think I saw it click for the team (I think Jose and Moses and Michael and Jordan overcame it). It just wasn’t fluid here like it’s been at other schools.
Howard seemed like such a needed transfer at the time, and he didn’t get into a productive groove. I think we had a lot of square pegs—not only Howard—and we didn’t get them in the right settings.

I am hoping we get enough depth and strong players to be a force

Yea I lost any respect for him with how he treated Pastner during the off court gate.

That guy can get these double-bird fingers before he's getting any clicks from me, bro.
