That statement annotated:

"As part of a comprehensive season-ending review and evaluation, I met for several hours with Brad Brownell to review the recently completed season [it seemed like three seasons, it was so long and hard to endure] and to look ahead to 2017-2018. Both of us believe strongly that we should have achieved more this season and Brad is candid with his own critique and assessment [of where these teenagers failed to live up to their potential and the coaching he invested in them]. As we move forward, I expect [ordered] Brad to make changes in the program to better position us for success [defined as making the NCAA Tournament as something better than a play-in team]. He continues to represent Clemson University with integrity and class [without detracting too much from the sport that really matters in South Carolina], and we will continue to do all that we can to help him [have access to the job market if he fails to meet my expectations] as we [it certainly better be "we"] expect to achieve consistent success with our men's basketball program."
Even without the annotations, it's a "I'm gonna fire him next year, not this year" statement. There's one AD (was it Foley?) with a standard of "If you're thinking about doing it next year, do it today".

This on the other hand feels ride with caveats because it's less well reasoned.

I click this with full recognition that Tony Bennett being pictured is 100% click bait.

I fully expect to see

"Tony Bennett isnt coming"
And it will annoy me.
Here we go...

Nope.
Paywall.
Just as bad

Without going in to details, they made a list of candidates in order of guess on best probability to land the job, noting it wasn't necessarily who Indiana preferred. Basically, if this coach was interested, chance they'd get it. Bennett was 2nd.

They then tried to rationalize why he'd take it. The rationale wasn't impressive.

3rd on the list was Billy Donovan.

Missed this the other day

I saw that too. A preceding tweet intimated that UGA give one of them $100K/year contract, essentially, which is LOL. DLab already making twice that and in position to get GSU or Kennesaw State if they open and then get in the running for GT when it opens one day.

I'm indifferent on the whole GT guy for the GT job, but LaBarrie is gonna be a head coach at some point and will get a chance to prove himself ahead of a potential oppty at GT.

I am also indifferent, and would like to think if DL went to UGA (another reason CC is not one of my favorites, like he would leave here to go there) McCray would probably be one of the first calls we made (or at least should be)

Seems Crean was reached for comment?

Or is that DRadiculous realizing a lowly SEC school was able to snake his guy out from underneath him?

I spent the weekend watching NCAAT with some midwest folks who are pretty well connected at Marquette, tOSU and Indiana. They are of the opinion that no one in their right mind would hire Crean. According to them (and they have first hand experience with TC), he is a disaster on all levels. They believe his rep is known far and wide and he is likely to take his buyout money and do some TV gig.

What is the deal with him? First to admit I didn't track him or try to see what was going on behind the curtain but his record doesn't seem to be bad to this level?

Lots of personality / behavior issues. Basically, everything you ever heard about what a turdburglar Matt Doherty was? TC allegedly makes him look like a polite choirboy. According to them, no one is sorry to see him leave either place. Not players, boosters, athletic admin.... no one

Dang. Nice pull by LSU landing Will Wade.

In other news, since the whole Mark Price discussion had died down significantly, I was curious about how he did this year at Charlotte: 13-17 overall, 10-5 at home. This following a 14-19 season last year. Finished 10 is CUSA.
