On a side Global Warming note, Harvey has had all day but can't get past 110 mph. Its getting really close to the coast now, so there is now a pretty good chance it doesn't pass 110mph when it comes ashore, thus continuing the incredibly long 12 year streak of no Category 3 storms or larger hitting the mainland.

Fwiw, the Russia Russia Russia Digression is still actually on topic. It corresponds with the gullibility of the Left to believe everything their Party masters tell them.

There is so much political spin on this thread I do not know where to start. I suspect I will bow out, not because I don't have cogent answers, but because I can tell pretty quickly when someone's mind is made up. But I will leave you with this fact. Over the last 30 years Trump has been in State or Federal Court 3,500 times. In hundreds of these cases the results were sealed by court order. Beyond this he lost 38 cases according to public record. He settled out of courts in several hundred cases. His payments to plaintiffs in these cases ranged from several hundred thousand dollars to over 10 million dollars.

Wow. Just saw that Trump pardoned that criminal thug Joe Arpaio. Let us pray the country doesn't explode.

Yeah, I think it's because you don't have cogent answers. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Where in my comment did I say it did? I know exactly what the POS' conviction was for.

Your main complaint seemed to be the tent city jail operation. You didn't quite mention the violation of court order the conviction came from.

So? His "tent city" was appalling treatment of human beings. He arrogant contempt of the judicial system that landed him in jail was merely another manifestation. Al Capone was a multiple murderer but he went to jail for tax evasion.

Re the Arpaio pardon. If he accepts the pardon, and it is void if he does not, then he pleads guilty to the charge for which he was convicted and pardoned.
Not sure he wants to do that but jail is no country for old men. Voters did not re-elect him and maybe prosecutorial discretion should have been
more sensitive and let him off. Of course he has ot been sentenced yet. Scheduled for early October I believe.

Can't recall a single president who left office without catching hell for one or more of his pardons. Nixon pardon probably cost Ford an election.
Media hollered about the B Clinton pardon of Rich for years.

Re H Clinton: no one has produced evidence that she broke a law. Departmental regs yes. So Justice Dept has not charged her. But statute
has not run out, so we will see.

Can we change the name of this thread to "2016-warmest election since 1800". (Apologies.)

You have never would as a developer or contractor obviously.....3,500 times in. 30 years for the scale of operation he runs is peanuts. Losing 38 times......out of the3500 is an incredibly good record. You should stop while you are behind.

Actually, there is plenty of evidence Clinton broke the law. Pretzel twists had to be made to claim otherwise.

Yes. I can too. I suspect we all can. You strike me as one.

The sad part is that we all seem to have our own facts.....much like so many debates these days, we do not start with agreed reality, but a set of (skewed) facts. This is where I believe the media has totally failed our society. They have become propaganda outlets, and if true journalism ever existed, it has been dead for a few decades at least.

On a separate note, I pray your family in Texas remains safe and dry through this storm. Hurricanes are one area where most of us agree on the factual impacts, and we all hope all Americans remain safe from them.

Point is, Hillary's record is even better. And she didn't even settle out of court the way Trump did hundreds of times.

You really stepped into that one didn't you.

Haven't heard from family yet, but thanks for everyone's concern. I am taking the "no news is good news" approach. I am also reminded that the worst may come days or weeks for now, if the storm becomes a cut off low pressure system the way the one did in south Georgia years ago that cut Albany and Macon in half with flooding.

Not at all. Hillary never built anything outside of a criminal organization.
And once again, if you knew anything about the construction industry......settling out of court is almost mandatory because of the way liability insurance operates. You have no idea what you are talking about, but have sized onto a DNC talking point for the ignorant.

Let’s just take public information and public statements and leave the leaks aside since they have become part of the controversy dividing our country.

First, Trump has consistently denied that Russia hacked the elections and has stood by that statement in spite of intelligence briefings that have told him otherwise. Second, he continues to say that no one in his campaign ever had any contact with Russia. I can only think of two possible explanations for these statements. He is either playing to his base and doesn’t mind lying or he is so unhinged and he no longer knows truth from fiction.

In addition, Trump lobbied hard during the Republican National Convention for changes to the Republican platform on Ukrainian resistance to Russian attacks and was successful making the platform more pro-Russia.

Here are the members of Trump’s campaign who had ties to Russia as well as the response to their involvement:

Don Trump, Jr. – lied about it and changed his story multiple times.

Jeff Sessions – lied about it and changed his story multiple times.

Rex Tillerson –close ties to Putin, lobbied against sanctions against Russia, which he lied about during his nomination hearing.

Jared Kushner –lied about it.

Carter Page –lied about it and after he got caught up in the investigation Jason Miller and Kellyanne Conway began to put out the lie that he never had any role in the Trump Campaign.

Boris Epshteyn –pro Russia advocate, official spokesman for Trump on the cable news networks who was fired this weekend.

Michael Flynn –has ties to Russia and has offered to testify in exchange for immunity. Lied to Mike Pence about meetings with Russia.

Paul Manfort -worked for Russia and failed to report it to the government. First one to say that Russia investigation was a “nothing burger.” FBI considers him a suspect in criminal activities. His connections to Carter Page and Roger Stone caused them to be drawn into a criminal investigation.
