Not surprising given that they desperately needed starting pitching and NYY stole Fried from them. Definitely interested in seeing the prospect cost.Crochet traded to BOS.

The White Sox will receive catcher Kyle Teel (Boston's No. 4 prospect and MLB Pipeline's No. 25 overall prospect), outfielder Braden Montgomery (No. 54 overall prospect), infielder Chase Meidroth (Boston's No. 11 prospect) and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez (Boston's No. 14 prospect), per source.
An equivalent haul from the Braves would have been Baldwin, Caminiti, Jhancarlos Lara, and then an infield prospect from the upper minors. I can't give an exact name for the infielder since the Braves don't have any in the upper minors other than Alvarez, and Alvarez is rated quite a bit higher than Meidroth. But the Sox including Teel was a steep price for them. He is rated higher than Baldwin (mainly for his defense), and he is the only catcher in their system rated higher than a 35+ FV.For the Red Sox, it makes sense. For us, it’s almost the equivalent of asking for one of Cam Caminiti or AJ Smith-Shawver, then add in Nacho Alvarez, and a lower tiered prospect. With the state of our farm system, I can see why AA didn’t keep upping the bid.
Good dig. At this point beggars can’t be choosers. We need another rotation arm.Rumors are swirling that the Twins are listening to offers on Pablo Lopez. With three years left at $21.75M/year, is this a phone call that AA should make if nothing more than to see what it would cost? Pablo is a really good pitcher, although he is a right hander. I would be trying to find a lefty at this point if I was AA.
Do you know what the Twins plans are for the next three seasons? They have a pretty nice team when healthy, but Correa and Buxton, neither one can stay on the field. Are they thinking their window has closed, and they are entering a soft rebuild? I don't follow them or the rumors closely enough to know.Rumors are swirling that the Twins are listening to offers on Pablo Lopez. I agree. Getting him would mean giving up somebody that we don't want to part with. I wouldn't involve Nacho if at all possible, but maybe Elder and AJSS would be a good starter. Heck, they may be interested in taking Anderson on.Do you know what the Twins plans are for the next three seasons? Just looking at Lopez in a vacuum, I would say he carries about $25M in surplus value. So, absolutely, AA should inquire. If Minnesota is entering a soft re-build, they may be interested in one of the pitchers at the top levels of the minors, i.e. AJSS or Waldrep, perhaps Hackenburg. If they are going hard core rebuild then a couple of the lower level pitchers may be of interest, something like a Ritchie and/or Murphy. Minnesota doesn't look like they have any big-time pitching prospects, so my guess is that they would prefer this package. They also don't have much in the way of any 3B prospects, so maybe Nacho Alvarez would be of interest to them.
Devin Williams has openly come out and said that he will wait as long as possible before he shaves. Sounds like he might petition Hal to let him keep it.Just saw the images from Fried's NYY press conference. Looks stupid without facial hair. When are the Yankees gonna cease with that stupid rule? It's ridiculous.
I wouldn’t mind it, but throw in a prospect and I’d be good
I don’t know what to think about AA these days. His run of diamonds in the rough has ended and the Braves seem to be a team of once upon a time dreamers, now aging vets, who don’t have the same heart.
Not enough Oakland A players left to acquire from a hapless GM that's not really trying to win.
It’s hard to figure out what’s going on. They’ve shed a good bit of payroll, enough to add a major player, but haven’t pulled off any moves to do so. Is AA sticking to his guns and not overpaying in a trade, or is he just flat out getting rejected? Lots of handwringing going on right now, and for good reason.I don’t know what to think about AA these days. Considering that the only two major A’s players have been Olson and Murphy, maybe not wrong but overstated? Laureano came from Oakland through Cleveland. There may have been a few minor players. Anyone I missed?
