GT and Loyola make the list. I'd say Illinois is one of the hottest teams in the country right now as well, and if we win Friday, that's a big mountain GT will have to climb to get out of the first weekend.

Lol, 5 out of the 7 are in the Midwest, and like you said you could include Illinois and Ok St in there as well. Midwest is basically a region on fire.

FWIW, according to the Ohio Univ head coach he has been told the UVA player who tested positive is not a starter. Which at least narrows it down to one of three players as it has also been said that it is someone who played. That means it has to be either Woldentensae, Morsell or McCoy.

one other note on UVA based on NCAA protocols. First you have to show 7 straight days of clean tests before you arrive. Which is why UVA is not going to IND until thursday night. Then you have to show 2 days of clean results once you arrive before you can take part in any activities, so I don't think UVA is going to get even one practice in before their first game.
It will be interesting to see how rusty and out of sync UVA looks Saturday night. With a week of not practicing together, of probably not doing a whole lot of cardio work.

Fortunately for UVA, they have a pretty easy run to the sweet 16 (Ohio then Creighton), so that should be more than enough time to shake off the rust before Gonzaga (not that it'll be enough).

I was gonna make a comment about Gonzaga getting an easy schedule due to Covid and being a non-P5 school, but I looked at their schedule last night and they played a heck of an early OOC schedule...and would have been a whole lot more impressive if the Baylor game wasn't canceled. They beat Kansas, Auburn, WVU, Iowa, and UVA to start the season.

If UVA makes it that far, it could be a rematch for both teams. Will be a really interesting game.

Couple of Covid updates

OK 2nd leading scorer is out for this weekend

Kansas is expecting to get David McCormack back in time for Saturday's game but Tristan Enaruna and leading rebounder and 3rd leading score Jalen Wilson are out.

Something to keep an eye on as the Tourney gets underway and we start hearing about a few positives, it can take some time for the positives to start growing.

Duke now has 7 basketball players testing positive for COVID

Looks like Syracuse is being threatened with potential academic challenges after this semester. LOL!

How can some professors be so unaware? Syracuse for example canceled their spring break. But most other colleges didn’t and it’s in the middle of it right now. 🤷‍♂️

It’s obviously possible but that person may not realize dukes situation was very different. That commuted from campus (Dukes campus is currently seeing a massive outbreak with hundreds of cases) and stayed at the same hotel as their football team who was quarantined due to Covid.

Do they really, or is this the "we didn't miss the tourney we had COVID" excuse being leaked/floated to the media?

All of this is going perfectly for the ACC haters. If we can’t beat Loyola without Moses - “see, even the ACC Champion couldn’t beat a mid major.” 🙄
