I think we took care of that problem happening yesterday šŸ˜Ž. Sadly though with ACC perception, I doubt ACC gets two teams in especially when one of them has two losses. SEC may have a few 2 loss teams and I expect most to get at large bids.
ESPN is already starting to spin that a 2 loss ACC team won't get in over a 2 loss $EC team. So yeah, ACC will only have it's champion in.

With PITT losing to UVA, it opens up the standings considerably. We need to beat State to secure a 5-3 league record and with that, more than likely finish in the top 5 of the ACC. SMU or Miami could reach the playoffs if they win out, leaving four ACC teams for the next tier of bowls. With my humble and non-expertise logic, my predictions are:

Win over State & UGA - Gator or First Responder Bowl

Win over just State - Holiday, Pop Tart, Dukes Mayo, or Sun Bowl

Lose to Both - Military, Fenway, or Birmingham Bowl

I don't think so since those 12 teams take up all the NY Six bowls.

Quarterfinals: Fiesta, Peach, Rose, Sugar

Semifinals: Orange, Cotton
Yep pretty much. Note that the 4 teams that make the semifinals will take up two bowl spots each while the 4 teams that lose the in the first round at the 5-8 seed home stadiums will take up no bowl spots, so it's a wash.

I hope it's Birmingham....my sister's family lives in Pell City and she having a baby first of Dec. Being in retail, I can't leave until Christmas day to go see her....holding my first niece will be great. But taking my oldest nephew to a GT Bowl game and winning would be even greater!
I would be able to bring a busload of Tech fans if itā€™s in Bham. The bowl is played at a new venue and not the old Legion Field dump from the past.

sEcSPN rulez, we all know that. The playoff is *their baby* and it's all about the benjies.
The CFP committee may have a real mess to sort out with the SEC. As of now, there are four 2-loss SEC teams, and if uga beats Tenn next Saturday there could be 5 going into the final game of the season.

The SEC Championship is equally cloudy. If Texas wins out as expected, theyā€™ve punched their ticket to the SEC Championship. The bigger question is who will their opponent be? If all the other 2-loss SEC teams win out (except A&M who would have already lost to Texas in this scenario), tiebreaker rules would apply. Both Bama and Ole Miss won the head-to-head over uga and thus uga would be eliminated, but it's not clear to me whether Bama or Ole Miss goes to the championship.

If Texas wins the SEC in this scenario, does the committee reward the 3-loss SEC championship runner-up with a playoff bid over a 2-loss ACC team? And does the committee reward a 2-loss SEC team that failed to even qualify for their championship, over a 2-loss ACC Championship runner-up? Probably. We need to take care of business the Friday after Thanksgiving to ensure this doesnā€™t happen.

How about this? Unlikely but not impossibleā€¦

Alabama beats OU and AU
u(sic)ga beats Tennessee
Texas loses to aTm and beats UK and Arky
aTm loses @ AU but beats Texas
Ole Miss wins out in SEC play (UF and MSST)
LSU wins out in SEC play (UF, Vandy and OU)
Mizzou wins out in SEC play (USCe, MSST and Arky)
Tennessee beats Vandy but loses to u(sic)ga

8 way tie - all at 6-2. Finebaumā€™s dream come true. Who the hell plays in Atlanta?

The answer to both of your questions is ā€œyes.ā€

The first tiebreaker is head to head among the tied teams. I believe that would make aTm the first team in (no losses among those 8) and eliminate LSU, Missouri, Texas, UGA (2 losses against those 8). Second tiebreaker is conference record of opponents and Iā€™m not doing that math but itā€™d be aTm vs. Tennessee, Alabama, or Ole Miss.

We need to get as many of these 7 teams a third loss as possible: Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, UGA, A&M and Mizzou.

Hopefully South Carolina can beat Mizzou this week because I doubt Miss. St or Arkansas will. Hopefully Texas beats A&M in three weeks. Hopefully Tennessee beats UGA this weekend. I don't see Alabama or Ole Miss losing and would bet Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and the Tennessee/UGA winner make the playoffs. I think that's fair.

Truth is Miami has needed some ACC replay booth help to get this far. Their resume isn't really that good. I think SMU is good but not as good as those 4 teams. That loss to BYU will eventually cost them if they don't win the ACCCG.

I think Oregon, Ohio St, and Penn State are virtual locks. I bet an 11-1 Indiana gets in unless Ohio State boat races them.

ND will get in at 11-1 - I doubt UVA or Army beats them so will need a USC upset but don't see that happening. So SMU/Miami loser best shot is Penn State getting upset or Indiana getting throttled by Ohio State.

SMU winning the ACCC is the ACCā€™s best shot at 2 teams simply because Miami is one of the media darlings. I donā€™t know if a 10-2 Da U is more beloved than some 2 loss SEC teams, but they certainly have a better shot at an at-large than SMU.
