Bowl Opponent Speculation

SMU winning the ACCC is the ACC’s best shot at 2 teams simply because Miami is one of the media darlings. I don’t know if a 10-2 Da U is more beloved than some 2 loss SEC teams, but they certainly have a better shot at an at-large than SMU.
Rivalry week will probably matter a lot this year. ACC had a winning record vs. SEC last year and the media and committee completely disregarded it. If the SEC has a winning record this year they’ll absolutely take it a run with it, citing how much better and deeper the SEC is.

Clemson and Louisville are 2 of the ACC’s top tier teams, they really need to take care of business against mid SCar and Kentucky. Clemson may actually be able to sneak in at 10-2 in that scenario depending on what other kinds of madness happen. Maybe Norvell can rally his troops to get up and beat a wounded Florida team, and the Jackets take down the dawgs on Black Friday for a full sweep. ACC definitely needs to go at least 2-2 on rivalry week to avoid total media shutdown.

I would love to see us in the Pop Tarts bowl. A game against Vandy would be fun, too.

Tulane is supposed to be GOOD, for what it's worth.

with all due respect I hate that people think this .

the playoff committee is made up of AD's from around the country. NOT tv executives.
Yeah ADs trying to get game day on their campus, wanting esecpn to talk them up in the rankings so they get more interest, better recruits, more donations, etc. Yeah your average AD from the sec would stiff his own conference to put 2 ACC teams in even if it meant each sec school losing money on the deal. These guys are wrangling behind the scenes to protect their power and money. Make no mistake about that.

At 8-4, we could play LSU or Alabama (8-4) in a higher bowl. Doubtful they'll play us against an 8-4 uga again.
Yeesh man. I wouldn’t turn away from the challenge, but we might get our doors blown off by Bama. Now, with what we know about LSU and mobile QBs…maybe.

ESPN is already starting to spin that a 2 loss ACC team won't get in over a 2 loss $EC team. So yeah, ACC will only have it's champion in.
So their argument is going to be that the SEC and B1G each deserve four teams and the ACC gets one? Ok. I mean with virtually zero common opponents I don’t know how you can argue one 10-2 at large team is better than another - PARTICULARLY if one of those teams has two losses to playoff teams while the other has a loss to a middle tier SEC team with four (maybe more) losses.

I don't know about that. Bama Is very Streaky. Milroe likely won't be playing if theya re 8-4 same with a lot of their NFL guys. So woudl be us versus bama's backups in a lot of positions Still excellent players but i think vulnerable to Dodd's luck.

Plus the buildup to that game would be amazing talking about history between the schools bama being a literal reason dodd left the SEC it would dominate the matchup talk for at least that day and educate a lot of people on remembering what GT meant to the SEC. Could be very very good for the brand.

Especially if Key is on the Bobby Dodd short list. Though i think that will go to monken this year.

That would be a fun rehash
It's been 12 years now. I could hang with a rematch.

If we are both 8-4, that would mean that we've beaten NC St and uga, and that Bama's wheels would have fallen off with losses to 5-5 Oklahoma and 3-6 Awbarn. In that scenario, we might actually be favored. Fun to speculate but that ain't happening.
