I count 1-4.

1-2 vs Clemson. 0-1 vs both Auburn and ugag.

The 4 losses have come by a combined 7 runs. Accounting for our 1 win, we've actually outscored them by 9 runs.

All 5 games have been without Schmidt and the two midweeks were without both he and the guy leading the country in WAR.

The only game of those that we weren't close to winning late in the game was last night's game.
You are correct, 1-4. I’m with Nuke and hoping that close losses turn into wins at some point.

Nope. Just a fan who has watched our coach lose game after game year after year to the SEC. UGA can throw mid week guys because their mid week guys are better than ours. It’s a bottom line business and UGA owns GT. The largest crowd of the season saw it and yet you act like it doesn’t matter. It does.

Their midweek guys had a better game than ours - sure. If you think you can make sweeping assessments on single games, you don't know baseball. You act like we got run ruled. We lost a closely contested game. Both teams are very good this year. I wish we'd had Schmidt and especially Lodise. I wish this was still a weekend series. Then you'd be able to take more away from the game. It's just not very smart to take much away from a closely contested midweek game. If anything the game showed that we are pretty evenly matched. They're a top 5 team in the country right now and we're a top 15 team, so that makes sense. There's a reason the d1baseball guys project them as the #5 national seed and us as the #7 national seed - and that happened after the loss that you're so butt hurt about.

Literally nobody says it doesn't matter. But it also doesn't matter as much as you make it out to matter. The recruiting that you point out, yet also ignore, proves that.

Our program is on the rise, Hall is retiring and we have a really good guy waiting in the wings, we have a really good team this year. We're in a really good spot. Grab a tissue and get over it. Then, enjoy the ride. Or don't.

Fans come in all forms. This dialogue which always bubbles up after losses to UGA and once we are eliminated from the post-season; and really highlights the contrast between how I 'fan' and how those different from me do it.

I care about the process. I care about the journey. I enjoy each win. In baseball, you can watch 1 million games... no 2 are the same. There is always something you see... you've never seen before.

I joyfully credit the players and staff for stringing together seasons winning over 65% of their games year after year (literally); and making it into the post-season on the regular.

I concede the post-season record under Hall has been disappointing relative to 'some' of their potential leading into those post-seasons.

I simply cannot/will not allow those disappointing 'finishes' ... diminish how much I appreciate the accomplishments of the staff and team over the years. Ga Tech baseball is an excellent 'product' ... something all involved should be proud of.

The 'different' fans... there is plenty of room for them too... whose main (only?) metric is getting to the CWS or winning a national championship or beating UGA... have every right to put a premium on those things. I feel for you. Based on that criteria and operating conditions... your joy quotient is suffering.

Go JACKETS!!

It's kind of like Haynes King's statement after the UGAg game, wtte: I hate continuing to lose. That man felt it in his bones. Literally. But he knew for sure his coaches felt it, too, especially his HC.
idk about baseball or basketball, but I feel like this could be the year we get them in football. especially with the ?'s they have surrounding QB.

There have been many who have not said the exact words, but certainly left the distinct impression, that they believe midweek games matter less. Don't matter? Maybe not but certainly matter (much) less.

TBH, this approach irks the daylights out of me.

It irritates the H*** out of me not using our best against UGA. I don't care if it's mid week or weekend. To me it's as important as a conference game.

That approach makes sense for football, but in baseball there's too much more on the line in the conference weekend series.

I HATE losing to the mutts as much as anybody, but there's no world where we're throwing Tate and/or having Mason or Jaylen come in and throw a bunch of Innings. At least not at this point in the season. If the game would have been pre-conference play I think we can throw Mason and Jaden longer, but we're still not using Tate.

Personally, I think Mason and Jaylen could have thrown an inning or so each and been fine. Especially last week against Auburn (and that one peeved me a little more), but I get why we didn't.

Honestly, I've rarely ever felt this way about this game, but we have bigger fish to fry this season. Had we actually been whooped or they were having a bad season, I'd be more upset. I can't reiterate enough that we're both in the upper echelon of teams in the country right now and we barely lost to them despite being down arguably our most valuable player on the season and another guy hitting over .400.

I get why some of you live and die by this game. You're probably mostly football fans who casually keep up with baseball when we play the mutts and when we're good and you have the same mindset towards baseball as you do football. Well, baseball season is a lot longer and this single (midweek) game just doesn't hold the same weight. This is shaping up to have the potential to be a special season. Get over it and enjoy the ride.

They were in control the game. The score seems closer than the game. We got 4 hits. Seems like hyperbole for your point. Let's just say you are right and let it be.

No. Baseball season ticket holder for 20 years. But still a different fan than you. Let it be.

Perhaps so. However, there is a movement that threatens to destroy college sports, and I’m not referring to the portal/NIL. I am referring to the domination of the B1G and SECheat and the relegation of the rest. Simply put, it is of utmost importance that the ACC and B12 place particular importance on beating teams in those conferences as much as possible - not only in football, but basketball and baseball as well. All major men’s sports.
The result, if this doesn’t happen ASAP, is the ACC and B12 being torn apart and the rest relegated to some sub-class. I don’t want this. If you don’t believe this is happening, look at the top 20 in all three sports. It is obscene how thoroughly those two conferences are considered dominant.

It was 2-2 in the 4th. They won 5-2. 3 runs in a college baseball game is never in control. Lol. I could see if they were up 5-0 and we scored 2 in the 9th or something, but that's not what happened. Yes, we got 4 hits and they got 10, but it doesn't matter if they get 100 hits if they only score 5. You can get outhit and win a game. But I guess you'd never be in control even if you won.

Yet you'd take a win over the mutts over a great season? Does that define a great season to you? Are you a baseball fan or just a Tech fan? I don't mean those in any kind of way, just genuinely curious. To each their own. In football the ugag game makes or breaks the season for me too. Baseball is the sport I care more about and I HATE losing to the mutts, but the game(s) against them don't make or break the season to me at all.

Of course not. But a win over the mutts would help make a great season.
Does that define a great season to you?
Great = Omaha. Very good = Regional win. Good = Playoffs. Fair/Bad = No Playoffs. That's maybe an over-simplification. But this year has been the most enjoyable year so far for me, despite being 1-4 against the 3 teams ranked ahead of us.
Are you a baseball fan or just a Tech fan?
Tech fan, but I was a huge baseball fan before I was a Tech fan.

The UGA games are a magnet for the less baseball literate members of fan base. It's the only game(s) some of them care about. We are not beating the, deserved, 'little brother' allegations.

Nobody is living or dying by the UGA game. If that were the case we’d all be dead. But this idea that we have bigger fish to fry is just nonsensical. We are a meaningless entity in baseball. Sure, we are having our best season in a long time and have hope. But we still lose to the same teams we are all use to losing too. Look at this very GT message board. It’s dead. And the reason is our baseball program is an afterthought. If you want to resurrect it you have to win the games that people actually watch and care about. But I understand the very few of you who believe you are smarter than everyone else actually believes that wins against Miami or Cal are more important than UGA. Hall clearly believes that too (thankfully that is almost over). So at the end of the season when we are bounced from the tourney you guys can be sure to tell us what an incredible season we had that no one knew about. I’ll be watching, like I do most evenings from 200 miles away, but I’ve seen this script before and it doesn’t matter if we host or don’t host because Hall has no clue how to win games that need winning.

You and @BuddaFred have opposite approaches to focusing on our team.

Whatever gets you through. To me it's just entertainment. Time to walk the dog on a beautiful morning. There are much much bigger problems that GT baseball is a welcome diversion from.

UGA and Auburn games have significantly less meaning to be a 16 or 8 seed than the ACC series that surround those games. I don't believe that is disputed?

If we are an 8 seed, that unlocks nationally televised games at home. And a chance for another nationally televised series after that one. Those are just facts.

UGA wasn't even on TV, LOL.

Honestly, I'm with you on some of this, but the belief that beating UGA on a Tuesday is make or break the whole program seems hyperbolic.

Good grief. Nobody said make or break. We could easily lose the ACCT, finish #9-11, and miss out on hosting a super. That is a very real scenario given the love for the SECheat in the rankings. *Beating a couple of those teams would go a long way toward showing the JJ’s belong in the top 8.*

Right now, it doesn’t appear to me that we do, having lost 2/3 to Clemson, AU, and UGA.

D1baseball already wanted to rank Texas A&M again after they beat Tennessee in a series now that they beat Arkansas one game they will rank them 25th even though they are currently 22-15. We need to win the ACC regular season in blowout fashion (2-3 games) to secure a top 8 seed.
