fyi, Dameon Williams landed at Gardner Webb.

I haven't been able to find info that any of the others (other than McKeehan) are playing anywhere, not even Benson.. Anyone know where he is at? I wonder if he just never got healthy because surely someone could have used him, even an FCS.

Is it processing if you the kids know they won’t play? Transition is tough and we have a good bit of players that don’t fit the system. Nobody will get “processed”. The staff likely has a good idea of who’s leaving and is recruiting accordingly.

People act like processing is a win for the program. BS. Anytime an upperclassman leaves and is replaced by a true freshman you have a serious performance gap at most positions. This is especially true at a school like GT where we tend to bring in kids who must develop their bodies and skills a ton to be effective. There’s a reason most top teams, minus a very select few, are loaded with upperclassmen.

Paul processed more players than his predecessor by a wide margin. Why complain now?

This is simply not true. "Processing" LJ who is a third string QB (likely to be 4th or 5th string after spring ball) allows us to free up a scholarship and bring in another recruit that might actually have a chance to see the field and contribute. Side note, I put quotations on processing because those are your words, not mine. I don't believe it is processing to be honest with a kid and say hey you are 4th string, you will never play, wanna look elsewhere.

I don't look at it as a win or loss but what is mutually beneficial. Upperclassmen are much preferred but roster needs have to be balanced.

Hope he does well whatever course he takes. But graduate first!

Today’s college football is big business. It’s not your father’s college football. Nostalgia aside, everyone - players included - know that there is little room in winning programs for players “below the line”. Players need to find their niche and, if that happens to be at another school, it is what it is...

The definition of processing is not universal and that makes it near impossible to debate. My understanding of the term is forcing kids out against their will based on some trumped up mutual benefit. If he wants a kid gone, I’d have more respect for a coach if he just outright cut him as is his prerogative.

Also, it’s a coach’s job to develop players not cast them aside when you can’t.

Bush league, IMO. How about “You’re 4th string but we are going to honor our commitment to your academic pursuit of a GT degree which we sold you on during your recruitment. Also, we value your leadership in the lockerroom and on the practice field and you still may help us on the field because football is a funny game. You never know who’s going to get hurt and when.”

Fact all teams do it like it or not. Fact we will have more players signing than we have scholarships if we only have 8 or 9 seniors leaving . Not a fact CGC has said all players have bought in , maybe the ones who are ATL but not all the others. There are right ways to do it and wrong ways. Lets wait to see which we do before we hang the wrong person.
