Without an official box score, it’s hard to determine the contributions of the six former Tech players that made the Legends roster, but nevertheless, we will persevere (but please do let me know if you find a box score).

DL T.J. Barnes (Years at Tech: 2009-12): started at NT for the Legends. Had a lot of trouble getting pressure on Gilbert (along with the rest of his defensive line).

C Freddie Burden (2013-16): started at center for the Legends. Had a rough game (along with the rest of his offensive line) handling a powerful Orlando pass rush.

LB KeShun Freeman (2014-17): played DL for Tech, but has switched positions to LB while playing for the Legends. Did not start this game, but did have a pass tip at the line.

DB Corey Griffin (2014-17): playing the same position he did for Tech for the Legends. Did not start this game.

WR Justin Thomas (2013-16): converted to WR for his pro day and during his time on NFL practice squads. Did not start, but saw the field for the Legends in some packages and had a few catches towards the end of the game.

OLB Brandon Watts (2010-13): playing the same position he did for Tech for the Legends. Started versus Orlando and contributed defensively — can’t say how much for sure without a box score, but considering the score, he may have had a rough time covering Orlando’s receivers.

I watched TJ Barnes a lot and was really disappointed. He was never a factor, didn't get any penetration, and was often pushed to the side or sealed off from the play. He didn't take up space and he got beaten way too often.

Offense looked like it needed more speed at the skill positions. Lines on both sides of the ball need help.

I like the concept of hometown boys on the roster though. ;-)

My take on the players:

TJ Barnes: not very effective creating pass rush; was okay in run support; he did sniff out a screen earye in the game but just tackled the RB as he was going out for the screen and got penalized

Freeman: seemed like he was all over the field when he was in; made some great tackled and had at least one pass breakup; couldn't get any pass rush when asked to (although noone on the team really could)

Watts: very physical tackles; great effort in chasing plays even if he was on the opposite side of the field; think he will be a major contributor this year

Burden: did about as good or better then any other OL on the team (not saying much)

JT: great when given the opportunity; caught the ball well and had a great time on a WR sweep; still needs work on route running to get separation; seemed like the only effective player on offense

Griffin: never noticed him on the field (I did miss the last 5 min or so)

I have not followed this league to much so I am curious -

Is thus league supplemented by the NFL?

Are these full time (in season) jobs for these players? Anything is possible, but it seems that if you have been out of college 5 to 10 years (and the avg. NFL career us 3 to 4 years) that the chances of hooking up with an NFL team are really slim.

What is suppose to be different about this compared to wfl, usfl, xfl? I think the old wfl prioritized drafting local players which is a good idea.

Wonder if their chances would be better if located in States that have no NFL team?

Full time jobs
Local players hopes to get more local support, which increases buy in
Most money comes from TV, which Off season games have to take place to work. Main competition is March madness which has been killer to everybother league. TV ratings were solid, just beyond the UvA duke game and ahead of Thunder rockets game

I think the AAF will wind up being an NFL minor league system
