First game in a while that I missed, how long was the rain delay, I kept going back but decided it must have been postponed ... sounds like the "old" Julio was back.
I didn't realize about the strikeout rank either, but I'm not really surprised and if I had to pick the top 3, I would have got 2/3 right.
Acuna goes on spurts where he's not making contact and Freddie has a hole in his swing low and inside, especially when he has two strikes.

It was on regular Fox last night. No rain delays, although it seemed to have more wind and rain when the Braves were at bat. Lol.

Tehran couldn’t get through 5, and Atlanta never had the lead that I recall. Big opportunity was in the top of the 8th. Pills put it out of reach in the bottom half.

Good that we at least got a split in the series. With L.A. winning, it’s going to be tough to catch them for best N.L. record. 8 games ahead of the Cards, 7 in lost column. 4 full games behind Dodgers.

Freddie has almost 600 AB’s so the 118 K’s isn’t outrageous. Riley with 99 is too many when considering less than 300 AB’s(greater than 1/3 of the time, he is whiffing). Acuna almost the same, in close to 600 AB’s/178.

Most fans are examining their payrolls, free agents on the market, during this month and beyond(particularly the teams out of the race)-so I thought it would be fun to look at ours on p. 453. Braves can still reshape the future with payroll open.

Buzz, I don't know the details of our payroll, but if it were me I'd make resigning Donaldson a priority and maybe even priority #1 ...
We switched to Dish from DirectTV and although they assured me they have everything that DirectTV has, when the game is on Fox, I get Fox Sports West not Fox Sports South ... which is also going to make me probably miss the football game Saturday !!

I don’t get either channel in my suite, and can’t order since property management makes the viewing decisions. So Saturday, I’ll have to go out after Tech football in BDS, to watch the Braves in Washington. Therefore, feel your watching the game pain.

Would love to sign Anthony Rendon over any other choices.

Tonight’s game:

Need predictions on tonight’s game and the remainder of the series, from you Gents.?

OK, I'd love to see Markakis in the line-up in LF, but I still like this line-up and Ortega has come through for us before.
So ... Soroka will be on, we won't score much against Scherzer, but we'll do enough to get his pitch count up and they go to their bullpen in the 5th/6th inning.
Braves win 7-3 !! and take 2/3 in the series.

I'll play along... of course, the standard disclaimer. THIS IS is baseball... so anything can happen. However, I'll go the other way on this one... than you Braves homers. I know...no surprise.

Scherzer is a veteran. He is a COMPETITOR to the nth degree. All he needs is some sort of incentive to summon dominance on the mound. For example, earlier this year, he embarrassed himself by bunting a ball off his face in batting practice. So... with a broken nose he marched out there and went 7IP/0ER/10Ks against the Phillies.....mainly (IMO) because there was so much chatter about whether he could "be Max" under those circumstances. This time of year all he needs for incentive is "this time of year". This game matters to the Nationals post-season. He knows he probably only gets 3-4 more starts to impact the National's record over these last 17 games. He is 1-0 v Braves in 1 start. Braves have only seen him ONCE this year. The matchup is good. A strikeout pitcher against a team that strikes out a lot.

Soroka (who I admit I have watch minimally) is a kid. He's never had this workload before. I'd be concerned about his stamina as the heat ratchets up. [Not that there is much heat on Braves tonight... but it is coming soon in post-season] He was 9-1 before AS break... and 2-3 since. He's 0-2 v Nationals in 4 starts. Nationals have faced him 4 times...advantage Nationals.

If I'm betting (I'm not), I say advantage Scherzer. You guys have the right idea, though. Work on running his pitch count up & survive to get to bullpen as early as possible.

Should be another fun weekend of baseball. Nationals have to sweep to win the season series...currently 9-7 in Braves favor. I say Nationals manage to win tonight and one more to take series 2-1. Nationals loss will be tomorrow (Sat) since they'll get hit with the "next next game blues" after arriving home this morning from Minn around 5am.

Go NATS!

Peace and To Hell with Georgia!!
