Standings today [filtered on "wildcard"]....
Where's the line, guys? Who still has a shot to make playoffs?

I'd say 5 [down to MLK] could still be able to get there. With SF & ARI... probably takes epic hot streak from them to get up there.

I think the NL Wildcards will be the Nationals and Cubs while the AL Wildcards will be the Rays and Indians.

IMO, the Nats are a lock and the Cubbies are going to fold ... The Mets have great starting pitching, so I'm going with three teams from the NL East in the playoffs !

Yea Buzz, the Mets acquiring Stroman was genius ... I think they were thinking it was a defensive move in keeping him off another NL East roster or an off-season trade enhancer.
Little did they know, or maybe they were gambling they would, get red-hot and get back into the post-season race ...

Why is Ortega hitting eighth? He hit 4 bullets off Dodger pitching Sunday, pulling the ball and the ball jumping off his bat. What happened to playing your hot hand?
Joyce should be eighth. Small thing, but get your guy more AB’s and better pitches to hit.

Starting Thursday & every time Scherzer pitches, I'm going to be on pins & needles. Need him to stay healthy BAD. Although, the rotation was great while he was out. The "5th/6th" guys [Fedde & Ross] haven't recorded a loss since Scherzer went on IL. So.... mark me down as wrong about those guys. Nice to be wrong sometimes.

Fred, I don’t know too many teams that have had success with their 5th or 6th guy?
I would have been wrong on our guys, Wilson & Wright, if they produced like your guys have. I’m thinking Wilson pitched one nice game out of about four of his games.

Max is an elite pitcher. There are not any clubs that could replace a stud like he is!
I mean pitching depth is low, otherwise these teams would have good Bullpens. Converting extra, good starters into relievers. They can’t afford to do such. If LA Dodgers have a weakness, it’s middle to late relief, or even closer when Kenley goes a few days straight.

He's hitting 8th because it gives you a guy that can drive in runs before the pitcher. You either force to other team to pitch around him and clear the pitchers spot for the next inning, or you allow him to hit with speedy runners (Joyce and Hecevarria) on base. If Joyce is 8th, you aren't scared to throw to him and likely have the pitcher leading off the next inning which starts that inning with an out.
