Homestand starting Tues. night w/ Mets...Dodgers....Fish-

Zack Wheeler
RHP
9-6, 4.20 ERA, 149 SO
Since the Mets decided not to trade him at the July 31 Deadline, Wheeler has ripped off 15 consecutive scoreless innings over two starts. He has been particularly effective out of the stretch in those games, allowing a .038 batting average with runners on base.
Max Fried
LHP
13-4, 4.11 ERA, 122 SO
Fried enters the series opener having won four straight starts, compiling a 3.32 ERA during that stretch. He allowed two runs over six innings in a victory over the Mets on June 19 at SunTrust Park.
Max Fried is going to raise his record to 14-4 and i think it's safe to say that he's the ace of the Braves starting pitching staff:smuggrin:

I didn’t look this one up, although with his ERA just 1/4 of a run lower than Keuchel’s, I’d presume Max is getting good run support? Going by memory, which I know isn’t too accurate these days.

Do you think he has a shot at 20 wins with only 42 games left? Maybe 8 starts, if they don’t shut him down in case of clinching early(which I’m definitely not predicting this race)?

I do think Max Fried will win 19-21 games because he's not being held to an innings limit:cigar:

I have to say, after the debacle on Saturday for the first time this season I intentionally missed the game yesterday ... looking at the Box Score, although giving up 3 in the first it looks like Folty did OK.
Nobody can blame you for taking one off. Particularly after the worst game outcome of the season, imho.

Statistically, it won’t go down as a quality start. 6 frames, 4 runs earned, 8 hits, 7 k’s, 2 BB’s. I listened on the radio, and when a movie started followed the last few innings on Gameday with the IPad. So, don’t know how he looked. Powell said the first walk didn’t faze Folty, but the second one got him angry towards the Umpire. To me, he can’t pitch angry-although yesterday he held it together pretty good. He should have dominated that lineup.

Keuchel should have pitched way better. Three home runs for a ground ball pitcher, stinks. The bullpen with mostly ground ball specialists acquired, imploded Saturday night. No excuses for the way we lost those two games.

I’m expecting 2 out of 3 at home vs. Mets. Dodgers next afterwards, and then lowly Fishies come in town.

I think the Braves win 2-3 from the Mets, get swept by the Dodgers and sweep the Marlins:cigar:

What’s interesting is the Mets still are 9 games under on the road. Even with winning 15 of the last 17. That makes me have hope. Like Fred so eloquently teased us, Nats faced their two aces which Atlanta will miss. Although Stroman is like 6-11, much of that was with the losing Jays. We do face him, a hot Wheeler the last 15 innings and Matz. They have a good starting staff.

Mets are due to lose some games. It's impossible to continue to win at their current pace. I think we take 2 of 3 and have a good shot at the sweep. Dodgers series will be tough. Game 1 is our best chance to win with Soroka up against Maeda. We see Ryu and Kershaw in games 2 and 3, so it's gonna be tough to win either of those.
