That's what I was saying last night. Sobotka has pitched a lot better since he was recalled, but winning game 1 is huge and you should empty the bullpen if it means winning that game.Maybe I’m wrong, but Keuchel left in a 2-2 game with runners on first & second, one out, bottom 6th. Sobotka walks a guy, fans one and grooves a pitch to a super hitter.
Why wasn’t Swarzak in there? Nats went with their best during a four run lead, Doolittle. I don’t think Dallas is the problem. He did throw too many pitches on an unbelievably humid night. If the Braves make the playoffs, he’s the #1 starter according to those three ESPN announcers. FWIW.
Gausman strikes out 8 Sunday in 6 innings, where the Phillies found holes and hit 3 HR’s, most he’s given up this year. I’m not ready to count him out. Most likely the only guy on this site who believes in him. He probably comes back with a nice outing this weekend.
Angels outfielder Brian Goodwin is drawing interest from teams seeking corner depth in the grass, Buster Olney of ESPN tweets. As a 55-52 team with a glimmer of a playoff chance, it’s unclear how open the Angels are to moving the 28-year-old.
I agree with you,Jake,Brian Snitker isn't very good at managing a pitching staffIMO Kuechel wasn't the problem last night even though he didn't have his best stuff.
Sobotka comes in and can't throw strikes, he starts 2-0 on the first two batters and walks them both loading the bases with Rendon coming up.
At this point I'm yelling at the TV for Snitker to get off his a** and pull Sobotka.
That doesn't happen, Sobotka gets behind in the count again 2-0, grooves a fastball, Grand Slam game over !! ... blame goes to Snitker !!
I'd rather have Yates than Giles also Are there any cheap starting pitchers the Braves could trade for to plug up holes in the lineup?I personally would not have used Sobotka last night. That was my point, along with wondering why Keuchel is being tossed to the curb. He hasn’t lost his command or speed, because this is how he’s always pitched. Dallas had an unusually high number of walks, 4. Give Washington credit for working him to full counts. The ‘Pen surrendered 6 walks thereafter. He shouldn’t have even started the sixth with nearly 100 pitches. Swarzak would have gone two. Newk the final two. Not that I’m a better Manager.
Braves talking to S.D. for Yates per 93.7 fm radio jocks. Ken Giles is damaged goods.
I don’t think they pay for a Mike Minor, who is controlled for another season. Despite his age. Prices are exorbitant. I believe A.A. stays with Gausman and Folty. Most contending teams are holding on. Now the Reds and Pirates each have a top shelf reliever available. We most likely take an OF we can control who is a salary type of bargain. If we trade for a rental, we aren’t giving up those half-dozen untouchables.I'd rather have Yates than Giles also Are there any cheap starting pitchers the Braves could trade for to plug up holes in the lineup?
I hope the Braves make a trade because the closer we get to the deadline the more i think Liberty will do nothing and they will just say that they tried to negotiate some trades but they fell throughCubs get David Phelps from Toronto.
I wouldn't mind a Braves trade for Robbie Ray but a trade for the other players wouldn't rev up much interest in me at all
Love Roark. Great athlete. Competes. Could be past his prime. Very reliable (not elite) as a Nat.Hello Fred;
Can you give us your opinion on Tanner Roark? Former Nat.
This year he is 6-6 3.95 with Cincy.
Rumors have Atlanta, NY Y and Oakland as the favs.
