6-5 Braves over the Cubs in the 5th inning
The bullpen really has stabilized itself. I like Webb, Jackson, Newk, and Swarzak. Tomlin is a good innings eater and Touki has a lot of potential. You are 100% right though. I want the Braves to trade for Brad Hand and Trevor Bauer (or any of the other great starters the Indians have). I know it will cost a lot, but we have the farm and even guys like Inciarte and Duvall to get a deal done. My second choice would be Shane Greene and one of the Tigers starters.Told a friend yesterday when the score was 6-1, that we were going to blow the lead and it might take a few innings. Didn’t see the game, although it sounded like the wind was blowing out on Freddie’s HR. The bullpen has been good through this 18-7 streak with a 2.16 ERA. Starters ERA has been almost 3 times higher than the ‘pen.
Still think we need another top line starter and a closer. A true closer allows Atlanta to move everyone an inning earlier in relief. Roles change.

I'm not concerned right now, but that's just because the All Star break is coming up. The team that most concerns me is Philly (sorry Fred). They just have too much hitting at the top of their order with Segura, Harper, Hoskins, and Realmuto. If the Nats had started off better, I would be more concerned about them. Y'all have put together a good stretch and will be competing for a wild card spot, but I think that slow start is really going to hurt the Nats in the end.Yellow Jacket brothers / Braves fans...
Full disclosure... I am a Nationals fan (root root root for the "home" team sort of deal)
I lurk around here to keep up with pulse of you friendly Braves fans. Curious how secure you guys feel about your lead over your NL EAST competition? Also...assuming like most fans... you are never comfortable, which team are you most concerned about.
My Nationals are hot right now (like Braves) & finally healthy & playing like the early prognosticators predicted. Solid starting pitching. Run producing offense... buuuuut, weak (hot/cold) bullpen.
My hope is it comes down to an interesting/exciting pennant race between the Braves & Nats. I almost counted Nats out 30 games ago... but they keep teasing me with solid baseball.
I will also add that the Nats' rotation scares me more than the Phillies'. That big 3 combination could be deadly if they get on a roll.I'm not concerned right now, but that's just because the All Star break is coming up.
