Guess I’ve fallen off the Donaldson train the last few years, between injury and age it seems his production isn’t up to the salary commanded from past times. He’s at .237 with 8 and 25, in 66 games. The 71 K’s are tied with Acuna for team lead(although Ronald has better numbers in the other categories). A.A. said he didn’t have enough $ to sign Kimbrel too. They decided a starter was more imperative. So the budget does matter, and Camargo would be higher than .240 if full-time. Albies hits much better from the right-side and Markakis isn’t hitting lefties this year, at .202. Maybe platooning would work better with this depth, but it doesn’t appear Snitker manages that way. If the Braves are going to go the castaway route in the Bullpen through August 31st, that’s going to keep this team from going far in any playoff opportunity.

Josh Donaldson wont be on the 2020 Braves. If i were the Braves ownership i would see what i could get for him at the trade deadline!

I've come around a bit on Donaldson, he's a good defender and seems to give 110% when he's out there.
As far as trade bait, if I had to choose between Donaldson and Camargo, I'm would still lean on keeping Camargo, but am a bit on the fence ...
And, my feelings as of today are that if the Braves can come up with a consistent or even semi-consistent Closer, we could make some noise in the post-season !!

The Braves paid $23M for a guy that walks a lot but other than that isn’t bringing much to the table offensively.

It’s a shame we as fans have to consider salary, unlike when I grew up with the game as a youth. FWIW, I think Riley takes 3B and Camargo gets traded eventually, after the Braves realize he has more value as an everyday player. Probably will get nothing for Donaldson, because he passed the stage of yielding a draft pick. Here’s Johan(protected through age 29, and a much better upside in age):

I just don’t think Atlanta values Bullpen pieces. It’s nice to have 3 third basemen, but the team has needs in other areas. The Dodgers always have a complete staff and that’s what wins the NL in Oct.

I think the owners of the Braves are happy with a winning record and anything else like making the playoffs is gravy. They're just like the way the Chicago Tribune were when they were majority owners of the Cubs until 2009.

All Star Ballot

Interesting we have Freeman at 1st, Ozzie at 2nd, Dansby at short, McCann at C, and Acuna in OF that would all go through to player voting if it were complete today; Donaldson is barely on the outside in 4th place in 3B votes.

The MLB Network staff are not happy with these fan votes so far.

The Braves are going to have 4 players plus a pitcher on the NL All Star team:cool: I think the Braves will be in 1st place in the NL East and cruising along with a 55-36 record at the All Star Break:cigar:
