If Reddish learns to connect on a shot like this, wow:

That was indeed perhaps the greatest airball in history. And a perfect microcosm to his problem right now. Trying to do too much. If he slows TF down, he'll be great (not good). Defensively he might already be there. Actually really good defensively for a rookie.

In game 2 of the Hawks season, I watched Trae Young send an alley oop to John Collins. The only problem was that Collins watched it too.

This team will “get there”, but they aren’t really playing together yet.

Playing without Trae may be a good thing for them. They were way too reliant on him.

Heurter needs to get up to speed like now. He's clearly in his own way. Passing up open shots too much. I'm like, you might be the best shooter on the floor even with Trae. No need to keep swinging the ball if you're open. That's the shot we need.

4-11, just about ready for the knife. Stick a fork in them, they’re done.
Last wins were Denver, San Antonio.

We'll start to look better when Huerter and Collins are back. Probably won't be enough to make the playoffs, but next year was the goal anyways.

I went to the game Wednesday and Reddish was looking good, so that's a positive sign at least.

Ah, that's unfair. Injuries and suspension plus weren't expected to be world beaters in the first place.

True, but it will be nice when we get an NBA franchise again someday.....

The NBA has serious problems with balance though.....only certain teams seem to have a shot at winning...pity the poor franchises in places like New Orleans where it is hard to imagine any scenario leading to them being a relevant team...

Sorry guys, but all teams have injuries. That’s what a bench is for. In professional sports with exorbitant ticket prices for a decent seat, we should expect relevance.
Arthur Blank has said in the past, he wants to compete a.s.a.p. He had 100$ season plans that first year with the Falcons for 10 games. The Hawks ownership doesn’t seem to have that priority. They sit back with their “patience plan.” Collecting revenue.

The team has lost 8 in a row. Record is 4-14.

Not that too many care right now, the Hawks are stuck on 6 wins. The 25 losses are active. Have a chance tonight with Milw. having a top player out.

It seems like Travis Schlenk drafts in a different way than Pierce coaches. The pieces don’t seem to cover each other’s weaknesses right now. Budenholzer might have seen that his coaching style didn’t fit either, and he could go coach an MVP.
I like Collins and I like Trae (and I really liked Doncic if we would have kept him), but the player scouting doesn’t seem methodical to me. I would have grabbed someone from Houston’s front office, instead.
(And we lost to Milwaukee when Gianis was out, if you’re late to the thread)

I care. There's just nothing good to say lately.

I think this past offseason was a colossal misstep for Schlenk. The vets he brought in ... literally every vet he brought in, is a net-negative, Carter included.

Rumor is the sources of the recent 'get Trae help' kerfuffle were Turner and Crabbe who are both upset about playing time (playing behind the young guys .. you know, the guys we want to keep/develop).

The young guys are supposedly committed to working to get better but the garbage-a** non-quotes from Turner/Crabbe made it seem like the team isn't responding to Pierce.

Remember Crabbe was supposedly told by BKN that he wouldn't be traded so he was supposed to demand a buyout by now since he doesn't want to be here. That explains his painfully slow return from "injury". Turner is upset because he sucks ... er because he can't earn PT.

On top of that the Jones kid is horrid. Parker only plays for his numbers. Trae is a better defender than him. Let that sink in. Carter's voice has no impact anymore. We took one too many bites from that apple. He's useless.

All this is on Schlenk, not Pierce so I hope he doesn't get the blame.

David Stern passed away today. RIP.

Incredibly sad. For all his warts, he was a visionary who saved that league. What's even more sad is Adam Sliver's bowing down for the players is basically undoing a lot of the work Stern did in building the league.

Speaking of Jones..no idea if there are any legs to this rumor

@jgsiegel: Atlanta could get in on a potential Zubac/Baynes swap. They could use a young 5 on a decent enough contract. Would only have to send out 1.65M in order to have enough cap space to take Zubac's salary. Damian Jones makes 2.3M and isn't part of ATL's (or anybody's) long-term plans.

Only thing I'll add to this thread:

I like Trae, but always thought they should have kept Doncic.

Unless Cam Reddish turns into a perennial all star, or something happens to Doncic, you won’t be alone in thinking that way. That’s no slight to Young, it’s that Doncic is in the MVP discussion

I tracked that NBA draft on a plane, and I wasn’t surprised, but I wanted to keep Doncic
