According to a disclosure from federal prosecutors, former NC State assistant Orlando Early's attorney said his client disclosed that Gottfried on two occasions gave him envelopes -- contained with what Early believed was cash -- to deliver to star guard Dennis Smith Jr.'s trainer to ensure he signed with the Wolfpack in 2015.
"Thereafter, on two occasions, Gottfried handed Early envelopes, which Early understood to contain cash," the disclosure continues. "Early in turn delivered the envelopes to Farmer for subsequent delivery to Dennis Smith Sr., the father of Smith Jr."

At some point, according to the disclosure, Gottfried "complained to Early about having to provide money out of his own pocket to the Smith family," and "stated, in substance, that he intended to ask Adidas for help."

That was quite choreographed. You had statements from LSU Pres, LSU AD, SEC. They are really trying to get ahead of this. Doubt Wade coaches at LSU again. Wade was the one on tape talking about Balsa Koprivica who ended up signing with FSU.

Kansas and AZ both have alot of be worried about as well.

Adidas schools are going to be the most punished because that is who these guys were operating for but if anyone from Nike or UA wanted to come clean they would look just as bad. Heck, AZ is a Nike school and the whole thing behind DeSouza at Kansas was that they had to pay off the guy who had payed for DeSouza to go to MD - a UA school, so he could come to KU instead.
So anyone going to ring that f$u bell? Does anyone think balsa wasn't paid by f$u?

There are some people naive enough to believe anything but anyone who believes that isn't paying attention. Free never wins a bidding war.

Agree. If your name pops up in a bidding war with OTHER schools, it’s likely you took cash to go elsewhere. Why go somewhere for free when you can get paid?

Hmmmm .....

https://www.si.com/college-basketball/2019/03/09/sean-miller-rumors-future-thanks-fans-arizona-video

... he know something we don't know yet?

If'n he's gone, AZ really shld get a squeaky-clean replacement. Anybody know a guy?

Please don't start in with the subtext of your wishful thinking. It will only prove delusional and we've had enough from the crowd below this season...

LSU is also a Nike school. This definitely isn't tied to any partnership company and I don't think that the NCAA will be particularly harsh to a school cause of their shoe affiliation. Dawkins appears to be connected to people all over the place as well.
Ultimately the assistants are going to take most of the blame barring a Wade type situation where the head guy is on tape.

The one guy that could make this really interesting if he wanted to would be Merl Code. He worked for years in Nike's grassroots organization before moving over to Adidas a couple of years ago.
Alot of people believe he would have alot of of knowledge of Nike's actions if he felt like spilling his guts.

The Sean Miller article was interesting to. That sure sounds like someone who is not expecting to be back the following year. Addressing the fans in the arena after the game telling them what a privilege it has been coaching there the last 10 years.

There is a Yahoo article about Wade and LSU which suggests LSU's actions are partially to show it is in control of the situation to try to avoid the dreaded 'lack of institutional control' charge if the NCAA comes knocking.

Knowing there is at least 1 tape of Sean Miller (and could potentially be more that hasn't been revealed), AZ has to start thinking to some degree about its future and protecting itself . How many of his assts have been tagged in the last year now - 3 I believe.

Also, kansas has to pay attention as well given we know there are conversations on tape of Self and some of these characters.

Let's also not be naive. I doubt there is a Top 25 kid that is not being paid already. Maybe not directly by the school but definitely by the shoe companies or others.
Frankly, i'd bet less than 1/3 of the Top isn't getting paid in some way.

Just read this entire page [98] of the last 15-20 posts about all the folks on wiretaps, getting suspended, hinting at retirement...........and not one is referencing anything to do with the NCAA taking a look at this. Sounds about right.

Damn Creighton and TCU running these scandalous programs. Why can't they just run a clean program like how the virtuous Coach K runs a prestigious Duke Blue Devils team. All these schools are having to cheat to even get the players Coach K doesn't want. The good, virtuous, Coach K can recruit a Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett without all this nonsense. A true legend during these dark times of NCAA basketball.

They gave themselves the 'out' of saying stte, "Bwah, we gonna wait 'til all the cases are resolved until we act, blah, blah, blah ..."

Agreed. Surely Zion, in all his virtue, turned down 6 and 7 figures to come to Duke just because of K's winning -er- creepy smile?

A wise old sage once told me, "Free never wins a bidding war."

(Shout out, @ESPNjacket who is as wise as he is old. (y))

Not disagreeing with you, but this also means we must've paid big bucks for Bosh, Jack, Favors, Marbury, Kenny, Dennis......

Forrest, Best, Shumpert, Lawal, Critt, Young...

Yes. Same way Ratface's dark web of private school minions funnel funds to all of their top players.
