Probably not a huge surprise, when you factor in such things as 3 freshman All Americans, a Heisman-candidate QB, and a top-ranked recruiting class.

Hate to say it as a Southerner, but this Bama/Clemson show probably has zero interest in California, Ohio, Texas, etc.

Born and raised in GA and have lived outside Charleston, SC for the last 20 (yes, I'm getting old) and it had very little interest in my house. Watched a handful of plays after my wife went to bed and then I turned in right around half time.

The blowout it turned out to be certainly played a part in those low ratings also though. I bet viewership dropped like 50% for the 2nd half.

;) We need to start the campaign today to have two ACC teams in the playoffs next year. Because of the grueling regular ACC season games, the teams wear each other out. ACC demands respect!!!! And 2 playoff teams.
I know you are probably riffing on the old SEC trope but I remember well when the SEC used to lobby hard for the voters to pick them for the final college poll arguing that their won loss records would be much better if they weren't in a conference where the members beat up on each other all year. The lobbying often worked.
