The press releases from Beasley and Hamilton as well as a Facebook post by Beasley's father sure make it sound as though he is gone for good. None of them make any mention of testing the waters or returning to school. Right now he is projected as a 1st rounder with a chance to move up with this draft seen as fairly weak.

The question for FSU is do Bacon and Rathan-Mayes follow him out the door. Depending upon those 2 decsions and whether Isaac decides to attend college or play overseas, could have a huge swing on that team. From being one of the more talented teams in the country to being one of the less talented teams in the ACC. Recruiting must drive coaches nuts.

So... if the hammer looks more like it will come down any potential players we can get out of UL or were any of them even considering us?

If a school gets probation and players want to transfer, are there exceptions to the "sit out one year" rule? UL only had two seniors and one junior on this year's team, so most of those guys have at least two more years eligibility. Not sure that helps us unless our roster holes offer someone a chance to come in and start right away (and he does not have to sit).

One update. Cat Barber has told Gottfried he intends to hire an agent and stay in the draft. He has a little girl so not a surprising decision. This clears the PG position for Dennis Smith Jr next season.
Still puts them in the funny position of having only 1 real ballhandler.

Wolfpack losing the Martin brothers as well.

Gottfried better get it together ...

They will have a 7 man team again.
They lose Cat and now the Martin twins.
They have Dennis Smith Jr to replace Cat at PG (though given the season Cat had and that Smith is coming off a serious injury there is no way his production will be close).
They have Terry Henderson from WV who was hurt 3 min into their first game this season and will be back as a R-Sr. He likely starts at 2.
They also add Charlotte transfer wing Torin Dorn who was Conference USA Freshman of the Year 2 yrs ago. I'm thinking he and Rowan fight for the last starting perimeter spot.

But at best they are likely looking at largely treading water.
The year after next could be ugly though as Smith was expected to be one and done, Freeman, Anya and Henderson will all be SR. and Abu will be a Jr with potential NBA aspirations.
Ballhandling is going to be a serious issue for them. Neither Henderson or Dorin are strong ballhandlers leaving everything to Smith.

The Martins are from Mocksville, just SW of Winston-Salem, and were highly recruited before NC State. I am sure they are disappointed as to how things have gone for them at State, but where they might consider transferring will be an interesting story to watch. The ACC imposes stiff restrictions on transfers to another ACC school, so that is not likely.

Maybe they will end up at Charlotte.
