What happened to Pitt? Did anyone watch that one? I can only guess that they didn't want to be playing Northwestern and played a flat game as a result. What a weird year for them. Beat two of the best teams in the country and lost to Northwestern.
I watched it. They were terrible on both sides of the ball. Seemed to be motivated, but couldn't do anything right. QB and Conner got injured, but they did squat before that.

The ACC just finished a historically good bowl season for the conference. Just how good was 2016 compared to prior bowl seasons? Check out this table of bowl records and win percentages since the 2004 expansion (to 11 teams)...

Year W-L Win%
2004 3-3 50%
2005 5-3 63%
2006 4-4 50%
2007 2-6 25%
2008 4-6 40%
2009 3-4 43%
2010 4-5 44%
2011 2-6 25%
2012 4-2 67%
2013 5-6 45%
2014 4-7 36%
2015 4-5 44%
2016 8-3 73%

As far as I can tell, 8 bowl wins is the most EVER for the ACC. Just another sign that ACC football is improving by leaps and bounds.

Look at B12 defenses!???
Is that referring to bowl points allowed only? 0.4 pts better than ACC.....mkay...kinda odd thing to exclaim so much about.
ACC has a definitive case its the best this year, it's beyond a strong argument davey boy.

Well, they were a little better this year. I put that down to a conference-wide sense of shame over the pitiful excuses for D we've seen out there recently. Used to be that nobody but Stanford even made a pretense of playing D seriously. I guess that the Cardinal winning the conference a couple of times changed what they refer to as their minds. Now at least Washington tries to play D too.

But next to the ACC they're essentially defenseless. Hence the winning bowl record this year, imho.

ACC was the best this year hands down. There ain't no argument about it.

For whole season, SEC may have been better ..... look at Power Rankings at bottom of

The SEC Power Rankings will go down to start the season next year since they weren't as good this year as they were the year before. The JHowell rankings don't care about Disney stock value.

I still don't understand how Auburn (especially Auburn) and Tennessee can rank so highly
