I think our talent is at least top 50, but say top 65.

In my opinion expecting top 10 performance from top 65 talent is magic. Expecting top 65 performance from top 65 talent is not.

Expecting top 45 performance from top 65 talent is where GT coaching needs to be, imo, so that when we get top 30 talent we can compete with the top 10.

Agree with all of this, but I think the drop off from the top 10 to the next 20 is VERY LARGE, as large as it has ever been in the history of college football. For this reason, the coaching has to be SUPERIOR. I am questioning right now whether we have that type of coaching. But, it is not fair to make that decision this early. I am just concerned.

AND, the "top 30" recruiting better include a lot of big, talented OL's and DT's, because that is what the top 10 have.

One thing we have to deal with is that we have a couple of achilles’ heels to scheme around. We have some good downfield receivers, but we don’t have the blocking for a great vertical passing game most of the time (we do see it in fits and spurts).

We’ve got what should be a good secondary, but the rush isn’t there.

I'm not an expert, but I disagree with the concept of "achilles' heel" to scheme around. I think changing distributions of talent is a challenge for OC's to scheme around. That's why college coaches get paid more that college players (joke).

Seriously though, I didn't like the distribution of plays on which we relied the last year under CPJ. However, he figured out what TM could run, and we did that.

Seeing how efficient our offense was over the 11 years with CPJ, I am much less inclined to simply blame talent. Watching Don Brown at BC (before he moved to talent-rich Michigan) led me to believe the same thing is possible on Defense.

Football has always been won in the trenches. Until we start recruiting men instead of boys we are never going to succeed in football in today’s era. And it ain’t getting better for next year either just look at the dL commits so far this year and the only on over 260 pounds and he is at 262 the rest is between 200 two 210 pounds that is ridiculous. Until we start getting real men instead of boys on the line of scrimmage it going to be like this year in and out. Don’t expect much improvement next year and beyond,

Hate to double post but pretty much every SDE averages around 250-260 pounds in today’s College Football.
WDE/ Pass Rush Specialist are usually way leaner and faster.
As far as DT goes our dream guy this class is Jayson Jones who is currently committed to Bama but we are going to get a real Solid DT in Reginald Perry ( 6’5/6 280) who’s supposed to chose us over Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

There’s a difference between offering and getting big time offense and defense lineman. Just saying we get the boys and not men. We got to start winning the recruiting battle for the men and stop getting boys.

Where did you hear or read that? The only things I remember are from the players saying they were going to wait to see how they get along with the new staff. The coaches can't say anything publicly, so there aren't any statements from them. If they weren't sent papers, the players could have said those things to make it appear that it was their decision, but I haven't seen or read anything other than their comments in December.

When it was all going down there were some tweets from insiders as well as posts on here and other sites indicating that CGC had "pulled" the offers for the two OL as they weren't the body types he wanted for his system. The players indicated that CGC was cold on them, and that's putting it mildly.

I did see those comments when they de-committed in 2019. I didn't see any of that before or during the December signing period. The only things I saw in December were the players stating they were going to wait.

Well it was a good call no matter what. Whether he ignored them (likely) so they got the message or pulled them (not sure its conjecture still) it was the right move for the program.
