2025 Transfer Portal: Who do we need to target this offseason?

What if a player refuses to enter the portal when the coaching staff has strongly indicated they are better off elsewhere? I suppose they could refuse to renew the player’s scholarship for the next season? I’m just waiting for a situation like that to arise. It might be hard to entice a replacement to come when the current starter refuses to leave.

All P5 schools guarantee a 4-year scholarship. However, they can be cut from the team. The scholarship is still there, but they're not part of the team.

So does he enjoy all the perks of being on scholarship?

Eating at the athletic cafeteria?

Tutoring assistance?

I don’t think the player really has that choice. The scholarships are for one year and the coach has the say of who is on or off the team. You’d likely never hear about the argument unless the kid went public and then it would just be a “he said, she said” situation.

I don’t believe this is true. I’m pretty sure the scholarships have always been one year agreements. Now, the schools themselves have almost always done the honorable thing and honored the scholarship…because let’s me honest, it wasn’t much money. But still…

Wait, didn't they change this fairly recently. They were 1-year commitments but I'm vaguely sure schools can now offer multi-year scholarships.
