There are rumors that Murphy was pushed out. Duke has a new transfer QB.Gra$$ ain’t alway$ greener.
His new landing spot in the Pac2 seems to lend credence to the rumor. I thought he showed more potential than that. There are rumors that Murphy was pushed out. Duke has a new transfer QB.

All P5 schools guarantee a 4-year scholarship. However, they can be cut from the team. The scholarship is still there, but they're not part of the team. What if a player refuses to enter the portal when the coaching staff has strongly indicated they are better off elsewhere? I suppose they could refuse to renew the player’s scholarship for the next season? I’m just waiting for a situation like that to arise. It might be hard to entice a replacement to come when the current starter refuses to leave.

I don't believe so, unless he stays as a contributing member of the team in a different capacity after being cut, which I doubt he would do.So does he enjoy all the perks of being on scholarship?
Eating at the athletic cafeteria?
Tutoring assistance?
I don’t think the player really has that choice. The scholarships are for one year and the coach has the say of who is on or off the team. You’d likely never hear about the argument unless the kid went public and then it would just be a “he said, she said” situation. What if a player refuses to enter the portal when the coaching staff has strongly indicated they are better off elsewhere? I don’t believe this is true. I’m pretty sure the scholarships have always been one year agreements. Now, the schools themselves have almost always done the honorable thing and honored the scholarship…because let’s me honest, it wasn’t much money. But still…All P5 schools guarantee a 4-year scholarship. However, they can be cut from the team. The scholarship is still there, but they're not part of the team.
