One of the best days of the year. When the approaching season becomes truly real. I really liked the rotating ALL-IN-1 ticket they offered last season and am glad they are continuing it. I used to hate when I would forget to download my ticket, it was 35 degrees out and I was outside the gate digging through my email with bad 5G coverage looking for that specific games tickets.

Got my season seats (2). I live in New York’s Hudson Valley & hope to make it to a couple of games. This was my way of making a $ contribution to GT hoops & TechWay. My only granddaughter out of 12 grandchildren lives in Atlanta with my first great-granddaughter (4months old). Dad is defensive lineman in final year of eligibility with Georgia State so they might use tix occasionally. But they will likely be available for most games. Not looking to make a profit and prefer not to put them on stubhub for opponent fans. So, anyone on this board looking to attend a home game this season needing two seats, give a holler. Most likely they will be available for transfer at a reasonable price. Section 101 row 12.

LSU board says they dropped a secret scrimmage to GT. Is this a real thing? GT better at keeping secrets secret? Or just a very old headline over a new post?

I was hopeful that we would have a scrimmage. That's a huge thing for the players. After weeks of practice they get a no outside pressure game against a real opponent. LSU is a good choice as well. They are, like us, picked in the middle of their conference. The 59 points is nice. Maybe we will play some D this year.

Hudson Valley is beautiful.

Ok insiders - someone has to have some info on the :secret scrimmage" vs LSU! Spill the beans!
I have come to the conclusion that Damon Stoudamire is the most tight-lipped head coach I have ever come across in any sport at any level. No question in my mind that it is by design to protect the players, staff, as well as to gain advantage in recruiting & game planning preparation, as opposed to being merely his personality. There have been published secret scrimmage results of quite a few games over the past week and GT can’t be found anywhere except in one minor LSU Tiger fan’s leak on their forum. Maybe that leak has opened more and info is out there somewhere. We should be hearing from Damon soon as the press will be looking for his pre-season assessment before 1st game in just 10 days.

Does anyone know the McCamish rental & payment policies? For instance, what are the charges for rental, security, & clean-up? Is full payment due upfront or just a deposit?

Does McCamish rental revenue go to the Athletic budget? If so, where does it usually get allocated? How much does McCamish take in rental revenue annually?

Were there any other secret scrimmages? Who was it last year? Bama?

We also had a public exhibition in McCamish last year against Morehouse. This is the only year (from my brief research) aside from 2022-23 we haven't had a public exhibition game in McCamish (we did open that season w/ D2 Clayton State however). We've never really hosted or been invited to a charity game either.

Stoudamire was an elite high school player, high profile college and NBA player.

He's grown up under scrutiny. It wouldn't be surprising that he would have a deep insight into the facets of public scrutiny and how to manage them. He is unlikely to fall for the temptation of the spotlight unless it is in his benefit to do so.

Is the "secret" nature of the scrimmages a rule or voluntary? If it is a rule, it may be as simple as someone asked Stoudamire not to talk about the secret scrimmage, so he told his staff not to say anything and they have all adhered to his request. He has a big staff so, if they all have kept their mouths shut, then Stoudamire is a respected manager.

Stoudamire is an interesting guy. He is a bit of a deep thinker who seems to have a well thought out personal philosophy on which he bases his approach to the game and coaching. The result is what he asks his players to do is simple but why he asks them to do it may be more complicated or abstract. I think whether he makes it as a coach will depend on whether the players can grasp and embrace his underlying philosophy.

We did have a charity game against Georgia State a few years ago before the season.

Wouldn't put a ton of weight behind scrimmage results but Missisippi State is 32 in KenPom so barely losing might be a fairly promising result.

Same here. If 11 state guys played, I imagine CDS unloaded his bench as well. Winning might me important in an exhibition game with fans and media around to hype the results, good coaches don't try to "win" a practice game.

Whatever result, glad to hear we’re playing legit practice games - great exposure for new players, great reminder for key starters. I say all good; better than facing some D2 school.
