Doubtful but probably wouldn't have these blowouts in every single game.

Or the home-field advantage is too strong an advantage. If you flip who's hosting, does that change the outcome? I think it does.

In which of the blowouts do you think it changes the outcome? These teams barely squeaked into the playoffs. I’m not going to pretend to act like they have a chance. These games have shown there’s a gap between the top 5-6 teams and the 10-12 teams

The way the games played out only Clemson was competitive and I don’t see them beating Texas anywhere. SMU looked awful vs Penn St. Tenn looks lost at Ohio State. Seems the cold weather is a factor which I think is great.

The only one i thi k might be different was Texas Clemson. Clemson made to many mistakes but had chances

Four teams earned a bye. After that its opinion as the prior BCS and 4 team CFP were.

Seems the CFP Committee got 5-8 correct vs 9-12

Looking like the 8/9 game might be the biggest blow out of all, and I’m thinking home field is a huge benefit. I think these would all be a lot more competitive at neutral sites.
After a sample size of just one, I’m thinking the 5 and 6 seeds are a REALLY good place to be in the current format.

Looks like the biggest gap may be between 8 and 9…

Too soon to tell. Being a higher seed should have some advantage. Playing 3 of 4 games in sub freezing temperatures is great. Southern teams never face that challenge. Seems they don’t handle it very well

Well, both the 5& 6 seed played in their conf champ this year. Obviously no way to know if that pans out the same going forward but its going to be hard to seed a 5 or 6 that didn’t participate in a conf champ game unless it’s Notre Dame.
That said, 5/6 seeds are good place to be.

Tennessee is an absolute embarrassment to the SEC. How in the hell can they be allowed to remain a member of the mighty SEC. They really crapped the bed on the biggest stage of the game.

Don't minimize the home-field advantage. I think it was huge. All 4 hosting teams won handily. There wasn't that big a difference between those teams. I think in Death Valley, Clemson beats Texas.

The cold may be a psychological factor but I’ve heard players say once the game starts you don’t even notice it. On the other hand I’ve heard players not used to playing in hot high humidity weather that it was a major distraction.

So the narrative so far is that home field advantage is a factor. Herbstreit, during the game, made a point of saying Ohio State is something like 4-10-2 all time against the SEC. He didn’t like hearing OSU fans chanting, SEC, SEC, SEC, taunting Tennessee fans. The game seemed to hurt their feelings a little bit.

The bottom 4 seeds (9, 10, 11, and 12) all lost. We were #’s 11 and 12. There was no surprise in this.

Clemson played the closest game. IN was down 27-3 in the 4th before scoring 2 junk time TD’s. The SECheat’s UTK lost worst of all while playing the lowest seeded opponent of the 4 winners.
