Syracuse beats Miami and Clem loses to USCe. You cannot make this stuff up. The ACC is going to be a 1-bid league because we beat each other. The SECheat will be a 5/5/-bid league because they beat each other.
Last I checked USC (e) was not in the ACC, rather in the SEC. One of the teams in our Conference Title game was 0-2 vs the SEC. Can’t get around that fact as problematic.

This can't be a surprise to anyone. The ACC only managed to wait until the final weekend to have their playoff [potential] teams lose. SEC did it last week. B12 does it every week. B1G was falling in line until today (OSU) too... although, OSU seems to be a lock despite that.

SMU should be lock for playoffs now. If Clemson wins... ACC gets 2, I think.

Will be interesting how committee ranks USCe, Alabama, & Ole Miss. USCe (#15 last week) is playing best of late & just beat #12. Alabama (#13) & Ole Miss (#14) both beat USCe. What matters more to committee? How good you are "now" or head to head?

Here are the locks as I see it
Oregon
UGA
SMU
B12 Champ (ASU/Iowa St/Colorado/BYU as of my writing this)
Tennessee
Penn St
Indiana
Notre Dame
Ohio St (not dropping from #2 out of playoff field)
Texas (not dropping from #3 out of playoff IF they lose tonight)
G5 Champ (likely Boise)

That is 11... then pick one of these
USCe
Ole Miss
Alabama
Miami

A&M & Clemson can play spoiler by winning their conference championship game

Losing at the right time vs losing at the right time is a cogent observation.

Miami seems to be fading (do they do this every year?) and teams like Penn State and Notre Dame seem to keep grinding.

Who would I most fear playing in a playoff?

-Notre Dame, SMU, Oregon and whoever wins the SEC. Those feel like the hot teams or the strongest teams.

More annoying is with OSU laying the egg today... it sets up the SEC (loser of SECCG) to get the coveted #5 seed. Play home game v G5 Champ as a 2-3 TD favorite... then move to quarterfinal v the #4 seed likely the B12 Champ... again ... likely a double digit favorite.

We'll see... but once bracket is announced next week... that #5 seed path is going to get a lot of people questioning whether this format (seeding, specifically) makes the right kind of sense.

Not necessarily. Depends on how the games play out. The B1G runner up could be #5. Texas vs Georgia and Oregon vs Penn State. Georgia will be the lowest ranked team of those 4.

Yeah I think the committee mostly lucked out. Should only be 1 spot left between Clemson, Bama, and Miami. No decision needed if Clemson wins the ACC and should only have to decide between Bama and Miami (likely Bama) if they lose.

Someone on the committee will unfairly argue that an SMU team playing and losing an extra game should get jumped by a 3 loss Bama team sitting at home who lost to Vandy but there's no way you should punish anyone for the extra game here. Records should speak for themselves at this point. Nobody else is sitting at home at 11-1 or 10-2 on the bubble.

After GTs high quality SEC loss and the eyeball test I think GT should be given a CFB at large playoff bid. Hypothetically if ugag wins SEC champ game (or dominates Texas again) then we should be as good as anyone in the SEC. Am I doing this right? Ok a little hyperbole, but man with a healthy King I feel like we’d have a great shot in playoffs against any team. You gotta put in the best looking teams right?!?!
