You said "Unacceptable incompetence ... or worse.", I without question believe it was "worse". I've seen that stuff before by the ACC when the conference seems to favor a certain outcome for whatever reason. Pat Narduzzi was absolutely furious and IMO rightfully so, he was being robbed of his teams legitimate shot at winning the game.
The implications of having a single official be able to negate a completely and cleanly run play after the fact by simply saying, "Oh, I wasn't ready" are enormous.

The worst I ever saw was UNCheat at UVA about 15 years ago now.

UVA was attempting a long FG at the end of the half. The officials were under the goalposts on each side. The ball came down right in the corner, over the goalpost, and the official ducked to keep it from hitting him. He straightened back up and signaled “no good!”

It was right over his head but he ducked and missed it. Unbelievable! The UVA coach appealed the call and won. Just horrible officiating!
The 2015 Duke-Miami contest is up there with the worst. That was the game where Duke had essentially won the game with a score, and on the ensuing kickoff, Miami did the "lateral until we score" play until they got a TD. Several of the laterals were clearly forward passes but weren't called. The entire officiating crew was later suspended for two games, but I think Miami got to keep their win.

It's been suggested that all of FBS football should have a single group of officials that are held to strict professional standards and not subject to influence from a conference, similar to the NFL.

Not only forward passes, one of the Miami guys was on his knees when he threw the ball.

And they had a player run onto the field as a 12th player before they scored their touchdown. He just came off the sideline with no helmet to celebrate before his teammate had reached the endzone.

Ut will do that. We’ll have the honor of ejecting them from the Top 25
IDK, they said before the season started Georgia would have to lose 4 games to miss the playoffs. With them sitting at 11 still, a "quality loss" to the #4 team will likely not put them outside the top 15. I'm starting to believe that 4 loss prediction.

Yeah, but a “quality loss” to a 7-win team might.

Incredibly stupid move by their AD imo. Firing the guy who started and built your program mid season your first year in FBS is not going to make KSU very attractive to other coaches.

Their interim HC is 28 years old and was one of Bohannon's first players when KSU started their football program.

So, Fran Brown takes the stench of defeat hard. As does anyone around the Syracuse team
“Soap is for winners”

does he not deserve the soap or does he blame the soap? Blaming the soap seems more in keeping with his MO…. And don’t get him started on loofahs. “Technological wonders of hygiene” huh? What’s wrong with a washcloth? Wash clothes are for winners. Loofahs are for loosahs!

His spidey sense just went off and he's all, "Wait a minute, did somebody just take a sardonic tone with me on the swarm? Not on my watch!"

The BC quarterback has been injured and playing poorly...so he got benched. His (Castellanos) response was immediate entry into the transfer portal. Not a good look for him...

Really? Sheesh, that's not a good look.

But could also be a bad look for O'Brien.

If A&M beats Texas and UGA beats Tennessee, the SEC could end with a 7-way tie for 2nd place in the conference. Does any conference have tie-breaker rules for that? Would the CFP just put all 8 teams in the playoffs??? After all, it's the SEC.
