catching up here…

I caught some of the Syracuse / Pitt game on in-flight TV. Pitt obviously looks sharp on defense but McCord looked like a Heisman winner against us and a turnover machine against Pitt…

Playing week 0 against the criminoles really sets our schedule up well, getting a much needed second bye week before Miami.

Sec football just means more guys.

Not so sure about the quality of education, however. Spotted this gem flipping channels.

I've noticed this all season but they really need to start calling delay of game on defenses who substitute extremely slowly to run the play clock down. KState just forced KU to use a timeout by jogging their defender on the field and I've seen a lot of other teams jog defenders on the field so QBs don't have enough time to read the pre-snap defense before they need to snap the ball.

That is the counter to the HUNH offense. If the offense substitutes late, they apparently are going to get squeezed.

100% on the offense for late substations. If the substations happen quickly the official will move away from the ball and let the offense run the play. If the substation occurs around the 15 second mark on the play clock the defense should slow roll the substation. No reason to penalize the defense for the offense trying to make a late substitution

Duke loses to SMU, in OT, despite winning the turnover battle 6-0!!.
You won't see that stat often, but it's happened before...

"According to the sports marketing and analytics company StatsPerform, FBS teams were 1-124 this century when losing the turnover battle by that margin. The other lone win came when Marshall defeated Memphis under similar circumstances in 2011."

Duke had a short FG blocked with 3 seconds to win. SMU scores a td in OT. Duke scores. Diaz goes for 2. TE is interfered with and no call in the EZ. Terrible no call. Duke loses.

Don’t ever make excuses for Dook. They’ve stolen more wins as an athletic program than any other I know of, including UGAg.
More about the bad officiating than excuses . Duke had multiple chances to win. Diaz rolled the dice to win and lost on a bad call. Very bland play call with roll out to right with TE dragging with the roll out. SMU has been somewhat of a surprise in the ACC and a favorable schedule. Duke still struggles to get fans to the games.

We’ve reached the point in the year where the quality of a team’s backup quarterback can make or break their season.
Mizzou and TAMU demonstrating opposite ends of that spectrum.

Yes, and most of those stolen wins are due to favorable officiating by the TRM.

Do you know how many years of watching college basketball I've been waiting to see these words put together in this order?

CFP update. These appear to be the only potential teams:

SEC - all these teams have at least one loss; SECCG teams still a tossup
Texas A&M - Their loss to ND doesn't look so bad right now; has Texas after three "should win" games
uga - @ Ole Miss & Tenn in Athens
Texas - A&M on the road
Tennessee - uga & Vandy on the road.
Alabama - needs some losses above
LSU - needs some losses above

B1G - 3 undefeated teams, plus tOSU
Indiana - tOSU on the road
Oregon - they should breeze into the B1GCG undefeated
Penn St - tOSU @ home
Ohio State - Indiana @ home & PSU on the road

B12 - 2 undefeated teams, plus Kansas St
BYU - No ranked opponents remaining
Iowa St - Kan St
Kansas St - @ Iowa St

ACC - 2 undefeated; 2 w/ one loss
Miami - no ranked teams remaining
Pitt - SMU on the road & Clemson @ home
SMU - Pitt @ home
Clemson - Pitt on the road

Notre Dame - Should win out

Right now it looks like Oregon, ND and a G5 champ are in. Also, likely Miami and BYU. If Iowa St beats Kansas St, they are in barring a big loss in their CG. Pitt is the key in the ACC. It could get very interesting. The SEC has lots of scenarios. Same with B1G.

Could the CFP have 100% turnover? Washington, Bama, tOSU, and Texas (not as likely) could all be dropped.

Anyone seen A&M’s schedule? They have had UF and MSU on the road. They have USCe and AU to come. The rest are at home.

They have played a grand total of 2 away games so far this season, and have only 2 more. Helps to play 3/4 of your games at home.

Sounds like a program trying to win. I know of another p4 program that will play a paltry 5 home games on campus all season.
