However - very concerned about the state of our defense. McCord looked terrible.

I said this the day we lost to them; we do this every year. We get thumped by a team early and claim their offense is actually going to be the surprise of the year, the QB is a Heisman candidate etc, but in reality it’s just that our defense sucks again. I said I wasn’t going to fall for that this year when many here were saying he’s easily the best QB we’d play lol.

He’s probably better than he was tonight, but worse than he was against us. Our defense probably stinks yet again.

I am printing this and putting a copy in the defensive player's plane seats. .

We need to send the dl , play 1 deep safety , contest every pass reception.

Feeling pretty bad about our D-Line.
Stanford’s DL just won them the game.
Wish we had half of that kind of pressure
Yes! I would LOVE to have Stanford's DL. They pressured Mcord all night, making him throw a little quicker, but he still is an excellent QB.
His 2 picks were bad decisions, not poor throws.

I think our DL did pretty well against Syracuse. The problem was that our DBs weren’t able to sustain coverage long enough for the pass rush to get to McCord, so he kept getting the ball out super fast.

This is a good point about taking offense. I think Syracuse bent over backwards to find something to take offense. This kind of thing can't work every game and it showed last night.

Fingers crossed Louisville comes out of their bye week as sloppy as Syracuse did out of theirs. I wonder if Francis, when asked what made the difference tonight, again said "We have Kyle McCord" like he did during our game.

Whether SCuse coach incorrectly took or willfully took Keys toughness/ dominace speech, our defensive game plan compared to Stanford was a very bad sign.
Stanford has had one portal player.

They coached up what they had into a solid overall game plan that players crisply and forcefully executed.

First half of SCuse was coaching error.

Maybe the AD thinks winning enough games to make a Bowl is more valuable than getting thrashed in Oxford. Ole Miss under Kiffen has been very good. They beat our butts both games we played them. Then they paid for some of our better players. They could do the same to Wakes best players. hat is the benefit for Wake going to Ole Miss next year?
Out of conference rivalries with powerhouse programs certainly work against playoff realities. Even conference disparities in revenue sharing on a performance basis could put OCC rivalries in jeopardy. If, for example, the ACC bends to the demands of FSU and Clemson for a greater slice of the $$$ pie based, say, upon metrics like W-L records, would that place the Tech-Georgia series in danger, since that’s as close to an automatic loss for Tech these days as one can get?

We knew our offense had to carry us this year (again), so our subpar offensive production did us in versus Syracuse.

Our recruiting is finally starting to come along, but we're 2-3 years away from seeing those guys and the ones coming in behind them if we can sustain the momentum make a real impact.

Santucci's early in his tenure, so it hard to figure out if he's got what it takes to be successful on the Flats.

I am talking about gt or Stanford verses a mid level team Scuse who is coached by a guy who has never been a head coach.

Stanford had way better plan and execution with way lower recruiting and no portal.

Man, we are talking about trying to beat SCuse.

We need coaches that can do more with less as we head into the meat of our schedule.

I think our team saw what lowly Stanford did and will immediately adjust.

Syracuse came out with their hair on fire and a good game plan against us, while we played flat for a half. This game says more about Stanford that what it means for the Tech-cuse game.

A coach that is 6-0 against ranked ACC teams isn’t doing more with a little? A coach that is creating a top 25 recruiting class from a school that has just started putting funding in to compete against the giant pockets of factories?

I am just as tired as anybody with the lapses of concentration and excitement of the team on some of the games. But I also believe we are laying the foundation of something special

I thought Stanford D alignment was set up to stop those underneath throws against our soft coverage. McCord threw 2 int's and one was a pick 6. They got a good push up the middle and didn't let him get those quick passes off. The secondary was not very deep. They sealed the edge better than we did. Fun game to watch. McCord didn't look like a Heisman last night.

I don't know if the pick six was a bad throw or the WR cut the wrong way. Clearly he (McCord) read the defense incorrectly. That was the turning point in the game. I thought Cuse was getting their rhythm on offense about that time. That killed it.
