Teams go in cycles. How long ago was Washington a powerhouse? Oregon? USC? Any pre-expansion SEC team not starting with a V, a K, or an M? Teams rise and fall in how beatable they are. It largely relies on coaches. Look at what happened at Alabama before Saban was there. I fully expect Clemson and uga to both come back to Earth and we'll beat both of them again soon. Just one fan's opinion.
I think Washington's last good year was 1799.

I think this all comes down to money. When the SEC adds Texas and Oklahoma, they could easily be 30MM to 40MM above the ACC per team in conference revenue. Then add that the SEC and Big Ten have much bigger stadiums and attendance on average means they will generate more revenue there as well. And then add alumni contributions, it all spells huge disparities in revenue between Power 5 schools. That means significant differences in facility but more importantly coaching salaries and recruiting personnel. Add NIL which will definitely benefit the top tier programs and schools with more aggressive alumni (boosters) to recruit top tier athletes. I do think we are setting up a top 25 to 30 schools who will be very difficult to compete with. Now all of this being said, that doesn't mean we can't compete in the ACC since I don't think many of our schools will be in that Top 25 to 30 list. Clemson in football and maybe Notre Dame in non-football but not many else.

2 good teams? You are really discrediting Pittsburgh and Clemson.

Clempson was bad when we played them. Really bad. They might have touched good by the end of the year. Just because they come with a name does not mean they were any good. And Pitt was ok. Put them in any other conference last year and they are lucky to go to a bowl game.

Clemson was the same Clemson the whole year really, that D won a lot of games for them. Take the Clemson name out and you have a team that went 10-3.

Lost by 7 on a neutral field to the National Champs. D didnt give up a single TD all night.
Lost by 6 @ NC State in OT. A team that went 9-3.
Lost @ Pitt by 10. A team that went 11-3 and ACC champs.

Thats a really good resume. That isnt a team that's touching good, they were good.

Pitt would have been fine in any conference last year. They were a good team. You dont go 11-3 if you are just okay.

I think we played 1 great team, and 3 really good teams. The majority of the rest are average teams.

I do think the 2021 schedule was likely easier than this years will be.

Those 10 win teams are nothing, right. Such BS. We played 2 great teams and 2 excellent teams. 4 games we were clearly overmatched in. That leaves 8 games and we won 3 of them. Not good at all but to pretend we were a better than any but KSU is silly.

Our team was bad. Hope the coaching changes help. UGA and Clemson are losses as Ole Miss is 95% likely to be one as well this year. Getting 6 wins out of the other 9 games will be a real challenge. Hope we are up for it.

We will know very soon in 2022, IMO. I am not expecting CGC to last through the year. Dead man walking.

Every schedule every year will be hard for the current program unless something changes drastically. That’s the objective truth. It isn’t about our opponents.

It’s actually both. Playing Clemson and UGA every year starts us 0-2 90% of the time. Not many schools have two annual superpower teams on their schedule every year. We have one non P5 game we should win. That makes 1-2 with 9 games to play. Ole Miss is likely a loss as they have jumped into the pay for play game hard. Now we are 1-3. We need to go 5-2 in the Coastal to be a 6-6 team. That is not an easy task as most Coastal teams are on par with us.

Time to dump the extra P5 team, move UGA to the first game of the season or dump them. That’s the only path to becoming a consistent winning program. Winning will bring more fans for the whole season then getting bashed by superior teams.

We’ve always had Clemson and Georgia on our schedule and it doesn’t usually lead to three straight 3 win seasons.

They won 10 games. They had a Top-5 defense. That's a touch better than good, even when we played them.

There are rumors that the ACC is going to try to drop divisions in the conference soon. If that happens I hope we can start playing Clemson at the same rate as the rest of the conference. Putting ourselves at a competitive disadvantage to start every season seems foolish.

I didn't see a lot of difference between CU's defense and UGa's.

Ole Miss is our 3rd game. So, we would be 1-2 after that game should our season transpire as you describe.

Then you were not paying attention. They were the best defense in the ACC, would have been middle of the PAC in the SEC
That's a wack evaluation of Clemson's defense. Outside of uga, there probably wasn't a better defense in the Nation. The reason they won 10 games is because of their defense, and only because of their defense.

Do what?

They were 2nd in the nation points per game, and 8th in the nation in yards per game. This is with a terrible offense, putting them in bad spots all uear.

UGA scored 40 on SC, 62 on Vandy, 37 on Arkansas, 34 on Auburn, 30 on Kentucky, 34 on UF, 43 on Mizzou, 41 on Vols, 24 on Bama and then 33 on Bama.

They scored 10 on Clemson, with 7 being a pick six.

Clemson played UGA and South Carolina and gave up a total of 10 points. Once again, with 7 of them coming off a DJ INT.

I hate Clemson, but that defense was top 5 in the nation easily.
