Did you see they said Prada's commitment to GT is strong and he might be difficult to sign?

Which I don't get. The guy is a LEGIT STUD and he's been at the various events and multiple national showcases 2019/2020 even and the All American Classic in August 2019, after committing (10/2017)....

What a BEAST. Would love to have him.

What kind of reps would he get with Holland behind the plate??

A gander at his Twitter will tell you why I think he's gone.

You don't play MLB Pipeline, Area Code, etc. and most of these events if you're NOT drafting.....

I would really love to see him at Tech. If he were to come, I think we would see him split time at DH and catcher. Holland is definitely the better defensive catcher. Jenkins will probably be playing 3rd base and Reid will move into RF for Radcliffe, so this would leave DH open for Parada. He would need to showcase his ability behind the plate though so he might catch once a week. If Guldberg goes pro, Tres Gonzalez will take his OF spot.

Rumors. If there is no draft, players can sign undrafted. Unless that practice is changed too.

The only way I see no draft is if MLB has cancelled the season by June. I doubt / hope not. But if that happens, we have much bigger problems.

Uhhhh, we have much bigger problems.

Any expectations for how long the MLB season will be? Or how deep the draft will be? Last I heard was minimum of 5 rounds and likely 10 or less.

Whoever is drafted is gone since the teams won't waste picks and will know for sure that a player is coming at a certain price. Any insight on how that communication to assure a player will sign is done (NCAA "legally" or not)? I've seen discussion that it is done through an agent.

The MLB is trying to figure something out. Reports yesterday rumored the possibility of opening at a central location (Florida or Arizona Spring training facilities) where all 30 teams reside with games played in empty stadiums. There are a TON of risks and problems to overcome if this were to be viable anytime soon; but the thought of being able to watch real live MLB baseball (for me) is a good thing.

I cannot find the tweet; but one of the regular D1 baseball reporters said this week (after NCAA announced eligibility extensions for all spring athletes)... he said at least one D1 baseball power conference was mulling idea that seniors returning would NOT receive any scholarship money. Not sure how this would impact seniors' decision to return and no clue which conference (or if it was only one).

Well, I stopped being a fan of pro baseball when the Reserved Clause was abolished. A once avid Atlanta Crackers, and later, Atlanta Braves fan, I have not attended a pro baseball game since then.
I have become a huge GT baseball fan since then. I miss it enormously. Since I am 76 years and have stage 4 esophigal cancer, I fear that every season, or game, will be my last. I do wish the best to our players in their careers, but do not follow them, as they would never followed my career.

MLB teams are free to have meetings with players in the fall and spring before the season starts and while the players are in the dead period with no mandatory practices. They have a good idea of who is likely to sign before the season starts, and as the season progresses the teams maintain updates about signability through the player’s “advisor” who is really just an agent who isn’t getting paid yet.
With this year’s draft being cut to 5 rounds, anyone who gets drafted is almost guaranteed to sign, especially since no one is playing, and agents and scouts/teams are free to negotiate for a while.

I hope they do play in empty facilities. I haven't watched for years but the O's aren't out of it yet. Hell, right now I'd even watch curling.

I can see the same empty stadium football games too. Everyone tested and certified clear that week.

a 6th year, really....I would think that would be held against him going draft after 6 years. Don't they like the guys younger?

Everyone will make their own decision based on his situation, but knowing what we know....

Will waiting be held against him? By whom?.. the MLB clubs drafting him?

This years draft will be small pool relative to other drafts. Seems he's a guy in line to get screwed the most financially from the 2020 situation. He has a little leverage since he can return to play one more year... but it can't be much if only 5 rounds are drafting & slot money is all deflated.

Bottom line... I could see guys like him having to really weigh the advantage of playing another year. A guy like him could really improve his stock with a full dominant college season as a #1 starter. Obviously, there's a gamble... if he fails to perform or gets hurt (again). These aren't easy calls when you look at specific players.

Don't who like younger guys? The draft or Ga Tech?

I was speaking to the Draft and getting into the system in 3-5 years, vs a 6th year. Would seem "old" to go into the system after a 6th year with no leverage.
He has it now, but the lower round count doesn't bode well.
He's got the elite spin stuff, per all the game announcers and stuff I watched/heard this season.

Would you at MLB take a guy after 3 vs 6? You have 3 extra years and that many throws left in the arm or whatever.
What I've heard from a few was that scouts/teams and HS parents that have talked to them is that they want to get you in the MLB system sooner and save the 1000s of throws in college or in each year of college.

Also starting the 1st year of graduate school, to finish later? Do they let that happen like they do undergrad?

I get the goal is MLB, but again only 10% of college guys get drafted....

Not trying to be an ***, and maybe it’s just me, but I hope that you are prepared for your son and every move that he makes to be discussed publicly on these message boards by people that know nothing about him. You are quick to voice your opinion on theses guys, remember that when it is your son that is being talked about. Believe me, I have been there. Go Jackets!

No holds barred. Do what you gotta do.

No delusions of grandeur here.
I'm used to people talking about him, or me for that matter.

Feel free. If he F's up, I'm here to back you guys up and probably already said something to him or asked what he thought of the situation or outcome. Can't lose the lesson.
No participation trophies here. (We actually made both our kids give them back.)

I've had the same/similar conversations with my son.
10% get drafted. 90% have to plan for something else.
He knows the odds out of HS at a pitcher and is choosing school.
He's already been warned his offer is only verbal and might change or be totally rescinded. If it does, we'll do what we have to do.

He is well informed and knows the risks and is busting his butt in this off season and already put on 15 lbs in the last 2 months. He's doing what he can to compete, get better, and come in and earn his spot. He's 6'4" 203 right now and still growing and getting fast. 92 in the fall and was slated to be mid 90s this season/summer. We'll see how that goes, but by the time he shows up to campus, he'll be sitting 90s and hitting upper 90s with command of 4 pitches. We think that is a desirable asset to this program.

Sorry, I live in front of 2 monitors and work in analytics and am quick to research stuff.
I'm not talking nasty and think my responses are thoughtful, respectful, and inquisitive, when I don't know something.

If I'm being an a$$ please let me know. I speak pretty bluntly and not everyone gets that or me initially.

I'm also new to the MLB and College stuff, I don't claim to be an expert, but I can tell you what I know, hear, and find out. I'm also mature enough to handle being wrong and admitting it.
So again no worries.
