Since Memorial Day is on Monday here's an American Hero. Here is PFC Charles George of Cherokee,North Carolina who won the Congressional Medal of Honor in the Korean War. On November 30th 1952 while leaving Chinese trenches during a recon mission a Chinese soldier hurled a hand grenade in the midst of PFC George and his comrades. PFC George yelled a warning, pushed his comrade out of the way of the danger and fell on the grenade absorbing the blast of the explosion. Although he was mortally wounded he never made a noise that would have given away their position. His comrades carried him away and he died at the forward aid station. Charles George was 20 years old.

Barrancas Cemetery has 91 Vietnam and 21 other Fallen .
Working w the local staff and using the virtual wall was the way we found the fallen. In this time its hard to imagine that the data bases for national cemetery and the dept of defense (kia) can't be quiried to report the location of the fallen.
2 congressmen tried.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

In honor of Memorial Day on Monday here's another American Hero Mervyn Sharp Bennion Captain of the USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor. Captain Bennion showed unbelievable bravery and complete disregard for his own life at Pearl Harbor. Despite being mortally wounded was only concerned with continuing the fight and saving his ship. For his incredible bravery he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

I give thanks to all of the brave warriors, service men and women, who fought and died for my freedom. They are remembered particularly on this day but are never forgotten. May our nation always treasure the sacrifices they and their loved ones made for all Americans and many other peoples of the world.

I say thank you to all the Soldiers who have given their lives to keep America free. Here's the American Cemetery at Luxembourg where a lot of the Soldiers who died at the Battle of the Bulge are buried and General George Patton is buried here also. Here also is the American Cemetery at Normandy where 9,387 US Soldiers who fought at the Battle of Normandy are buried including Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during D-Day.
