Do you think the players will not be aware of a sea of UT orange in the stadium? They sure as hell will be, and that COULD indeed be relevant to the game. There is no reason on earth why Tech fans can't demonstrate their support for the team by the very easy act of wearing gold or white.

Crowd noise is vastly more important than wardrobe color.

This is true but what 60,000 people hear or see live is a lot different than what millions see on tv from there couch. I've been to BDS and I know it gets loud but I've had friends watch the same game at home in Michigan that tell me it looks half empty and sounded like a funeral.

And I'm sure those hill billies will be making plenty of noise too. No reason why tech fans can't do both also. Get off their butts literally and make noise the entire game (we sure do it in basketball), and get off their butts figuratively and don't look for ridiculous vain excuses not to proudly wear the school colors to every game.

So. Is it more important to encourage the players or give good impressions to those who don't come to the games?

It looks empty because we don't sell out games. It looks empty because half of the club seat occupants are in the AC watching it on TV instead of in their seats.

And instead of trying to get more butts in seats and broaden our fan base, we're more concerned with the wardrobe color choices of the people that ACTUALLY COME TO THE GAMES. Gold is a horrible color for TV. If you're going for effect, it needs to be white, blue, or some shade of bright yellow that actually pops on TV. But then, some purist would still complain it's not the right pantone. I just don't get the worry over what fan wear. As long as they are in their seats and cheering, I don't much care what color they are wearing, as long as it's not red.

We have a small fan base, and probably always will. Maybe the student body getting bigger will help in the future. I shamefully admit I like it that way. Been to a lot of places with big fan bases. Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, USCe, ND, FSU, etc., and I like what we have at Tech much better. Would it be as good if another 30,000+ people showed up? I don't think so. I will take what we have over South Carolina and some other places. Huge crowds and consistently bad results.

The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
