Don't understand why there isn't as much love for MJ as there is for the others....He's definitely NOT winning the GTSwarm messageboard Heisman.
Tough young man. Dude is such a physical runner...we sometimes forget the medical stuff he has to deal with.
Because he's the car you already own and the others are the shiny new ones sitting at the dealership. And, because ... human nature.Don't understand why there isn't as much love for MJ as there is for the others....
See 2015...MJ needs to prove he can throw well enough to keep defenses honest and make the pitch reads on the edge. He has shown tendency to keep rather than pitch but could have been called that way to avoid turnovers. Has had very inconsistent throws in games- some good but others not so good. I hope we see a real jump in his ability to run the offense this year. I also worry that his teammates need to feel he is the best choice. It could cause division on the team if they feel one of the other guys should be starting.

A mix of shades that blended into some form of gold/yellow. It certainly wasn't bland; besides the Whiteout game, that was the best our fan section looked on TV all year. It's not important what exact shade you wear, just as long as it's a gold/yellow shirt, since it all blends anyways. That's the first step to brand unity and something that fans can control themselves (instead of just complaining about branding on forums and message boards). Tech then furthers that by offering a plethora of options in the correct shade of gold. But as long as everyone continues to show up in whatever they feel like, then it will never improve at the rate everyone wants it toWas the Vandy game color old gold or just plain gold? I'm getting too old to remember these details. Here I come GT Bob!!
What about Whiteouts every game?A mix of shades that blended into some form of gold/yellow. Believe it or not, appearance matters. A lot. It's not just about being loud on gameday; it's also about looking the part. Tech fails horribly in this aspect. Any sense of crowd unity not only makes GT more attractive to potential fans, it also has a significant effect on recruits, especially those that want to play for a superb gameday crowd (which coincidentally tend to be the higher-rated players). Crowd unity also has a subliminal effect of connecting to those around you; more people cheer and get loud than they would if it were a blend of several colors
Similarly, I remember a ton of resistance to the initial Whiteout games that GT organized years ago, with a lot of the same reasons, including: (1) don't tell people to show up in a certain color, just get butts in seats, (2) white looks bad on TV, (3) Tech barely sells any good white attire, and several other reasons. I don't see anybody making those arguments now that we've seen what effect it can have on a gameday crowd. Imagine if every game was like the whiteout game. That's why you should wear gold
While I personally wouldn't necessarily be opposed to that, there are several reasons that come to mind as to why not go down that route. I just want the crowd in one color; the exact color doesn't matter much to me. The reasons for gold and against white, or any other color for that matter, are fairly straightforward, though. For one, our colors are Gold and White: it doesn't make much sense to exclude one of our main colors. Another reason is because the Whiteout games have already been established as a 1-per-season special event, so it doesn't make much sense to take away from such a successful modern tradition. And yet another reason, and a fairly big one, is because gold is the color that Georgia Tech Athletics is pushing for everyone to wear every game (except for the whiteout game). It's not yet in the stages where GT is publicly pushing it and saying it repeatedly, but it's been progressing for a couple of seasons now. If Tech is pushing it, and there's a grassroots movement forming by committed fans for the same, then we as general fans should get behind that. It can only yield positive results, so by wearing gold you are in turn helping Tech athletics, even if it's not immediately apparentWhat about Whiteouts every game?
10-4 wasn't aware of all that. I gotcha now!!!While I personally wouldn't necessarily be opposed to that, there are several reasons that come to mind as to why not go down that route. I'm not sure what their criteria were there, but at least we're ranked........and the cesspool isn't.

SO WHAT?There is no shade of Old Gold that "pops" on TV. Go back and watch the Gold Out game vs Vandy last year. Even the full sections looked bland.
I love our colors, and I much prefer Old Gold to mustard yellow, but it is not TV friendly.

High freshman retention rate?!? My, oh my - if that's the case, things have changed quite a bit... When my Dad was at GT in the mid-50's, they let everyone in on the GI bill and proceeded to shaft 90% of em... When I was there in the mid-80's, same damn deal - gate classes like EE3200/3250 and flat grade distributions weeded out the weak and unfocused... The undergrad retention rate for the general population was lower than for the football team, IIRC...
See 2015...
What was the division in the team in 2015? Only thing I can think might be about Skov starting over Marshall, but it's hard to imagine that kind of feeling over a T-Fr. Was there something else going on I'm forgetting?
