Our star QB is here thanks to the portal. It giveth, it taketh away. I agree there has to be some better structure created behind it, but let’s stop the “college football is over” talk unless you were saying it when guys like Haynes King and Chase Lane arrived, too.
You know, these portal losses are exactly why some of us were getting upset at the “better luck next year” people after that putrid 8 OT loss…there’s never been a guarantee our team will be better each year, but now it’s even more of a crapshoot.
Call me cynical, but I simply don’t believe his dad. He was the leading receiver, the program has momentum, he flirted with the portal last season after mentioning “offers he didn’t expect to come”. It’s about money.
He had three 100 yard games in two seasons at The Flats. He had 9 TD catches in that same time span. If a team is willing to pay $2 million for that, go for it, but I can understand why we don’t seem interested in matching it.
Yeah, if that number is accurate, I can’t blame him and he always represented us well while he was here. The only decision he can make that will get sour grapes from me is going to that other school in Georgia.
Hopefully, he weighs all options and decides to stay.
Man, it’s really hard to express this opinion without it coming off like I’m trying to bash the kid and I genuinely am not, but I genuinely don’t get why his value is considered so high. I’ve watched him play for two seasons and my first thought when I think of him is “drops the ball” and my...
Malik and Chase seemed to be Haynes’ go to guys in crucial situations. For whatever reason, he clearly has better chemistry with Malik. No idea if that’s factor.
Genuine question for those who may be more read in law and contract etc : What is to stop a booster(or whoever is offering the NIL deal) from putting in certain stipulations in contracts that require the player to play a certain amount of snaps/games/seasons at the school? Would this not be...
I don’t want to spread simple rumors, but if that’s the case, I feel a little better about this. I trust Key. If he doesn’t think he’s worth it to keep him around for extra $$, I don’t either.
First off, This sucks. I get it, but it sucks. Wish him the best if he leaves. However, I have also heard that he’s just testing the market, so we’ll see what happens.
Nothing personal @BilldGopher, but the reason I expressed such unenthusiasm about potentially playing you guys again is simply because we played y’all two bowl appearances(for us) ago. I find part of the appeal of bowls is matching up against teams we rarely play.
Yes, I know. If only you knew how little streaming royalties are. I work in the business. Someone like Taylor Swift or George Clooney’s earnings inflate everyone. I just worked on a major Disney production. The payroll for key people was laughably bad. There is a reason you see A list stars on...
This isn’t accurate, regarding the music industry. Concert tickets have skyrocketed in the world of streaming because they make next to nothing on streaming platforms and no one buys albums anymore. Concerts are their only serious source of income. Streaming is Pandora’s box as it has given the...
