  1. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

Also others have probably said this but seems hard to think deion coming to GT. I don’t know what his personal finances are but he seems really smart and seems like he would go somewhere where he thinks he can win national championship. I don’t really see GT as being a stepping stone for him...
  2. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

Does that help or hurt? I’ve kind of drifted from football the post CPJ years given the rule changes but would assume that you would have to have an elite level (lots of $) marketing department to compete on nil. Honest question is does GT have the ability to try to recruit based on nil? I...
  3. That should be Geoff’s last game as head coach

Thank you for all of the interesting replies. I’m still really concerned for programs like GT that getting a good or even great upcoming coach isn’t going to move the needle enough to even remain in the world of being a perennial bowl team with the occasional lightning in a bottle 10+ win...
  4. That should be Geoff’s last game as head coach

Honest question from a non GT follower is what is the next step and who is better? I was a massive option / CPJ fan and followed religiously those years but have largely been away and have just seen the dumpster fire unfortunately that seems to be there now. I agree with others I see on here...
  5. Why punt? Ever.

Probably old hat but similarly I’ve always wondered if anyone coaches players to not gain as many yards as possible in certain circumstances. I have seen some analysis of this (not sure how rigorous) but seems plausible that if the choice is to say get tackled or run out of bounds somewhere...
  6. Wake fans?

Agree. My daughter and I went to ND and were supporting GT clearly. We had tickets in an ND section and the people around us were great really interested and knowledgeable about football and overall good people. It was a very good experience.
  7. Cutcliffe Out at Duke - Coastal Chaos

I think in the shotgun / pistol you are losing the most effective part of the offense which is how fast the b back gets through the line. If you are handing off several yards from scrimmage you have the same look and timing as everyone else using the basic read option out of the gun but under...
  8. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Millennials need participation trophies for everyone. Coach has a $20m contract but heaven forbid anyone is allowed to criticize. CGC needs three participation trophies a year for the three wins a he gets I guess 🤣. Everything is AWESOME!!!!
  9. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

From the outside I don’t really understand why the fan base is supposedly pissed off. No option, no hard *** coach or dismissive press conferences, participation trophies all around, and vanilla college offense. Seems like Collins is perfect fit for what a lot of the fans here and the boosters...
  10. A Thread to Rehash GT HC Comparisons

As an outsider it seems to me that whether Collins is a solid coach or not is still completely unknown given that he has to retool so much, but I think that at the end of the day unless GT gets more majors, does not require athletes to actually attend real school (at least those who do not want...
  11. #GTvsCUSE Postgame

I don’t know what anyone is complaining about. Everything out of shotgun. No triple option. Over 30 passing attempts. It’s a complete win.
  12. Virginia Tech Postgame

To me it seems like overall the fan base should be very happy with the direction of the program as is evidenced by a lot of people here. In the big picture if you look at the positives, there was almost nothing run from under center, no triple option, lots of passing attempts, and even some 5...
  13. #122

Well, you may be 122 in the country in offense but at least you don’t run the TO anymore, so everything is awesome . . . I guess.
  14. Moving On

I just don’t comprehend the aesthetic issue and never will. I was only a fan of GT because of the option and frankly I will admit I am a big fan of CPJ personally as well. I have no interest in watching any other football. If I want to watch grown men play catch I can just go watch the hippies...
  15. The IMG academy?

One thing that is interesting on the economics is I know that for Tennis there are a lot of “ok” players accepted there who project to collegiate level somewhere but are no superstars or anywhere near pro of any sort. Those kids are paying full freight but the real superstars are going for free...
  16. Gameday!!!!!!!

I really like Tre’s interview on pregame. When asked about trying to replicate the Louisville performance again he said something to the effect of the entire team doesn’t travel and we want to give the walk ons and freshman that experience at home because they put in so much work preparing and...
  17. Bowling Green vs. Georgia Tech Predictions

I think GT looks better on offense in this one. CPJ sounds like he is going to simplify playbook and just try to execute base plays well. Against team where GT should have physical advantage that should make offense look a lot better. I am worried about defense and think it is going to be...
  18. A Back Involvement

I agree that there are definitely two related aspects of this. One is the defense within an option play choosing to take away an option and the other that the defense through alignment or hard outside flow could be selling out to stop rocket toss so CPJ not calling it as much. On the option...
  19. A Back Involvement

CPJ was asked again recently about the perceived lack of A Back involvement last year and whether he is doing anything to get them more involved. CPJ gave the answer you would expect that the defense can take them away if they want to, but should open up another option. Obviously that is true on...
  20. 2018 Offensive unit projections

Great post. Thank you. The one question I have is whether WR blocking needs to significantly improve. I thought generally that was something of a bright spot last year so I would be happy if they are able to replicate the blocking side of things at the WR position. Obviously replacing Ricky will...
