The only time I recall anything resembling wishbone would be if the a-backs do the fake motion on 4th and short to try to draw them offsides (which never works) and then instead of calling time out they actually run a play. I think I have seen that a few times and it is very close to wishbone if...
You mention the penalty at 16:10 I apologize I missed the discussion elsewhere on another thread I guess but was that because the tackle was "engaged" and therefore a chop? Otherwise I don't know what the call is. That was a huge call in the game and could have significantly influenced the...
I agree with longest day and others in that it seems more of a commitment to middle running game early would be great. Of course this is mindless fan analysis but seems like it would be better to just commit to interior called running early (dives, off tackle dive, counter dive, qb follow etc)...
One thing I know, it's going to be a long day for longest day studying that offense
I think mills is a bright spot. He looked like he belonged out there athletically to me.
On the first TO is the outside LB the pitch read? It looked like play side guard tackle were releasing and one took him leaving DT as dive read and DE as pitch read. DE overcommitted thereby leaving both JT and a back free. A back does a nice job turning into an extra blocker on that one once...
I think JJ Green is playing very good as well. I think he is going be solid carrying the ball and a very effective blocker this year. I am all in on Mills. I think he has Dwyer ceiling or more even. Probably completely irrational fanthink after two games, but I don't care.
The one glaring ability question I have had the past two years is whether we have the athletic ability to get to the second level or whether it is technique/assignment uncertainty that is causing the problem. I honestly don't know. as someone noted on another thread it looks like we are often...
On those counters against the 3-3-1 set up where Shamire may have taken the wrong guy it seems to me the problem may stem from the play side guard not being able to get any block at all on second level leaving an extra guy. From shamires perspective on the pull he may have felt like he had no...
I thought oline looked slow and tentative again just like last year but I think mills is going to be really good. My gut reaction is he is going to have huge year. I liked his intensity after the fumble.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the insight. Maybe it is impossible for the WR to crack far enough inside to pick up the mike so maybe the better question is whether we ever have play side a back pick up the mike if our tackle is getting grappled or just can't get there in time to cut him off...
i apologize if this is a stupid question but I was wondering if some of the technical experts could address whether we ever change blocking assignments to have the play side tackle release out wider and have the play side WR crack back in to pick up the mike or safety that are flowing inside...
Sorry if addressed before but can someone tell me if the play side tackle has any option as to whether to release inside or outside depending on how the d-line is aligned? Or is this release hard wired into the overall blocking scheme?
I thought the same thing watching notre dame and duke games. Seems like qb is not quite as fast to the edge and not forcing the commit as much as at the end of last year or sometimes has to wait a split second on the pitch because the a-back isn't quite there at the right time.
On O I am guessing GT struggles with the wide run game (TO, rocket toss, counter options etc.). Second level blocking was a big challenge last week and I think will be more difficult this week especially on outside the tackle runs. I think we will need to have a lot of success with designated B...
To me the big problem with this is that he seems to be just regurgitating something he read somewhere else about "controversial chop blocks" without verifying or thinking about it. He probably has no idea what he is talking about, but the more this gets mindlessly repeated, the more it is...
You are absolutely right. Having her along made it truly memorable. Gettysburg is a great idea. I am going to try to make that happen. I am really hoping that I can start an annual GT home game tradition with my daughter. She doesn't care anything at all about football to be honest but she...
