I want to get the board’s opinion on something I have been pondering. Let’s assume our new scheme is not a traditional veer/option offense. If there are no further changes to the cut blocking rules, is it safe to assume all those rule changes were designed to limit our success?
I don’t think Monken or Bohannon want the job. Paul is frustrated with GT and he would probably tell them to pass on this one and await an easier school.
I think something like Satterfield’s offense makes the most of our talent. You need a JeT type qb that can keep you honest with his arm, make the right reads and burn you if you over pursue. That is just my opinion though. Elliot’s scheme wasn’t insanely effective with Bryant and they had a ton...
I get what you are saying and agree to some extent. It’s about getting playmakers in space and letting them do their thing. His scheme does that, but I don’t think we will have the talent to create enough mismatches to be successful with the scheme. You need a mobile qb that can take deep shots...
There are several vacancies around the country, so if you interview people you don’t want to hire to passify donors then you are wasting time that could be spent with your top candidate. And that candidate may end up elsewhere. It is the same principle in recruiting talent for teams in...
I have a bad feeling we are passifying the donors with our interview choices and that is going to lead to bottom fishing. Maybe Scott has no interest in coming here, I have no idea, but I think his offense is the best fit for the players we can get.
That makes sense. Unless he abandons the NFL style offenses this will not end well. I know people say HC over scheme, but any scheme that demands talent superiority is doomed at tech.
My opinion is that they are good because they run the 3O very well and Monken gets input from CPJ.
I also think CPJ would tell Monken to stay away from the GT job.
I think WR is probably the most up for grabs spot on the offense. I watched Dolphus’ film, and he seems like he can get some separation. I also like the idea of Oliver in the rotation.
I have no idea how the QB battle will play out, but that will influence who we put out at WR. I think CPJ...
My solution
Up player scholarships to 100.
Cap salaries to $10m per team for the entire football staff.
Deduct scholarships for the top 10 finishers each year for 2 years to balance the recruiting. Ex - team finishing #1 loses 20 scholarships/year for two years. Team finishing #2 loses 19...
