    White v Gold

Nevermind, Ben S. came in relief tonight as did Hughes. Sounds like most of the runs were RBI’s from freshmen tonight (based on GT Twitter).

    White v Gold

Maybe the 3 starters listed first for each team, then each team’s closer and random after that? White team won tonight. 5-2, I think.

    Fall Ball 2017

That first weekend we are playing Minnesota, Bradley, and UCONN. Those teams will also play Kennesaw St and Ga State. UCONN has a couple of pitchers that are supposed to be really good—one was a freshman that we faced in the FLA Regional in 2016 and beat us.

    Fall Ball 2017

I’d expect Connor Thomas to be one of the starters based off of how CDH talked about him last fall and last season while he was ineligible. He got several chances last year in the last few weeks and struggled, but CDH still sounded very high on him. Hopefully Hughes has a bounce back year. Lee...

    Fall Ball 2017

Have heard both Shadday and Dulaney are no longer playing. Shadday had Tommy John so he would’ve been out this year anyways, but heard he’s decided to not play even after recovery. I think it may be Austin Wilhite that had hand surgery. Not 100% sure. Pope was a good pitcher for the...

    Recent Baseball News....

Regardless of how highly rated the kids are coming out of HS, they're not going to do much in college without good coaching of fundamentals. Just not sure we've had the level of coaches at GT that can help a kid really improve his game. It seems to me the kids that improve over their time at GT...

    Recent Baseball News....

Rarely do freshmen pitchers make a huge impact anyways, but it is concerning to see so few pitchers in this class; the biggest thing is that we really need the following pitchers to elevate their game BIG-TIME: Hughes, Lee, Curry, Gibson, Thomas. Then if Datoc and Carpenter can build upon this...

    Coaching

They might use the role that Patterson held this past year to bring someone in. I think Patterson was something like Volunteer Assistant Trainer so he was able to help coach. Also, Tyler Gibson has been a Grad Asst Coach the past couple of years--maybe he is finished up and someone is coming in...

I think it's in addition to his pitching coach position. Prince was hitting coaching and recruiting coordinator.

I would think he will definitely get an opportunity to get more AB's next season as a DH if he doesn't play any in the field.

Appears it is official from Kendall Rogers with D1 Baseball-- .@GTBaseball promoted Mike Nickeas to hitting coach, #Jackets moving Jason Howell to recruiting coordinator as well. Eric Patterson to Vol. I think Patterson was a volunteer asst training coach this past season, so this move will...

Another option could be moving one of A. Wilhite/Carter Hall/Parker McCoy over to 3B. If I recall correctly, initially Hall was going to be our starting SS this past season but didn't bc of injury. Also heard McCoy may have won the spot in preseason if not for his own injuries. Regardless, we...

    Coaching

The parent I spoke with said Prince resigned after the last game. Said he told the team he has been thinking about it for a while and needs a break away for right now. I haven't spoken with that parent for a couple of weeks, so don't have anything to add to what I was told then. Maybe Nickeas...

    Coaching

I don't think our guys are tipping pitches...in fact, most of the time our pitchers probably had no idea what they were throwing. I wonder if our coaches ever talked to our guys about opposing pitchers and then tipping pitches. Probably not, because that would actually require in depth...

    2017 MLB Draft

Craport--I wonder if maybe they'll look at him first as a C? That's where he played in HS and CDH had said at one point in the fall or preseason that Craport was the emergency C. On Rooks--I have heard he actually never signed with GT due to academics possibly. I could be wrong on that though...

    2017 MLB Draft

Yeah, guessing Craport is gone. Serrateos will probably be determined by how much money they're able to offer him. 11th-40th are all "slotted" for $100K, but they can go over that amount if they sign the 1st-10th round picks for underslot value and have "extra slot" money available. I'd guess if...

    2017 MLB Draft

Of the top 75 picks, 11 were from the ACC. We played against 10 of those this season. All 10 of those came from just 4 teams (Lville, UVA, UNC, Wake). The SEC had 12 players selected tonight (if I counted correctly) and they came from 9 different teams. I may have counted incorrectly as I was...

    2017 MLB Draft

Taking out my personal bias being a GT fan, I think we should be a top 25 team next year IF (and that's a big if) the returning players improve like we hope they can. If you watch this weekend and last weekend, most all the team's pitchers are upperclassmen. This rising junior class was rated...

    Summer Ball

The below is from RamblinWreck. I feel like a handful of players are not listed--wonder if they are rehabbing from injuries or just training this summer? Datoc, Murray, Nick Wilhite to name a few off the top of my head. Also, as I mentioned in the Draft post, apparently Craport did not go up to...
