I actually thought the biggest problem on that play was the complete wiff of a block by that halfback and Golden. He took a bad angle and didn't come within a foot of getting a hand on him. If the half back makes the block and the play is going a long way since we were in man.
Two of Thomas' touchdown runs in the 2nd half were off of midline. One Bostic misses his block and Thomas goes outside and jukes the corner and the other one where Bostic makes his block and Thomas goes up the middle. I think we at least ran 2 others.
No you didn't dream it and I know exactly what play you're talking about. The only time I saw it in an actual game was in Hawaii highlights though. The QB goes on a half or full roll and the back side aback moves parallel to the line of scrimmage. I can't remember if the back cuts up inside...
... but CKN was on the staff from the beginning that rebuilt Navy into what they are. It's not like he walked in off the street when CPJ left and nothing to do with their ascendancy.
I didn't here the section but I'm pretty sure that happened at Notre Dame. I remember seeing an option by them pick up 6 yds and there was boos coming from the stands. This was I about '94 or '95. Now let me remind you this was 6 years after winning a nation championship with an option QB.
I don't get this. The big XII is the only conference that does it right. They have each team play each other team in conference. No one can complain about this team avoiding another team etc. They all get a shot at each other. Also you can take co out of the championship for the big XII...
We ate up the clock because our lack of depth on the defensive line. Running more plays and scoring quicker does not help our defense nor our team. It just would give us more total stats, which seems to be the only thing you care about, and loses.
The biggest thing for me is if we can find 3 wr that can block next year and make proper route choices in the pass game, not a slight at Waller he played well last night, and if we can find 2-3 more abacks, beside Andrews and Snoddy, that can block, know who to block and run hard.
That 2nd play was the main counter play, non counter option, against Pitt. You're right we always have about 2-3 of those besides our main counter plays a week.
I agree you should not alienate them but at some point the fans need a wake up call to what is realistic. I would have thought that Callahan would have sufficed to do that but I guess it didn't. I sure know that if I were a coach I wouldn't go coach there for 10 million a year. Not worth it.
Disagree. He said those things because the fan base had unreasonable expectations and were not satisfied with 9 wins a year. Their fan base deserves a creator of a program that is lucky to win 3 games a year after running of Solich and Pelini.
I guess I get the other things but really you think cut blocking is illegal in the NFL? If it is when did it change? I have not paid to much attention to the NFL in the last 5 to 6 years because I think its boring, but before that cutting is perfectly legal.
