  1. Roll call for Toe meets leather 9-1

He wasn’t. I came by the tailgate for the 2014 UVA game, when it was about 50 below with hurricane force winds. Legitimately the coldest Tech home game I’ve ever been to. It’s also the one that convinced me that we were good that year. We played pretty poorly and still won by four touchdowns.
  2. Roll call for Toe meets leather 9-1

Me and the two year old will be there.
  3. 1st year since 2014

It’s a big deal because the offense gets continuity at many of the skill positions. If the offensive line is even average, the offense should be pretty good. And if we see any improvement from the defense. . . God, someone stop me from talking myself into believing we’re gonna have a big season.
  4. Adidas Swag watch 2018

Yep. I went by there today, which was a bad idea. I intended to buy one polo for gamedays and walked out with . . . more than that. They have plenty of stock, though.
  5. 2020 look ahead

We have a week old baby. If I can get through the next 30 seconds, I’ll be thrilled.
  6. What are your measures for success with the new defense?

Better tackling. I can live with another player beating our guy. What makes me crazy is being in place to make a play and whiffing.
  7. QB Johnson injured - UPDATE

    It is not.
  8. Toughest 3-Game Stretch

With the information we have now, it’s Miami, UVA, uga. Fortunately two of those are at home and the last one is our home away from home.
  9. Preseason rankings....

I don’t disagree. You’ll generally lose some of the close games. But it isn’t like it’s murderer’s row. There isn’t a team we face other than Clemson where I think we have no shot.
  10. Preseason rankings....

I really don’t understand the doom and gloom. And I really don’t get measuring the program by how much they talk about us on the radio. A lot of the games will be coin flips, but it’s not crazy to see us getting to the Miami game at 8-1.
  11. all signed players from 2008-2015:

Here’s my issue. Is, say, Erin Joe below average? If so, why? There’s no reasoning given for the classification, so it’s basically just your own memory of a given player, which is a . . . suboptimal way of doing this.
  12. all signed players from 2008-2015:

Ah, yes, classifying players using no discernible objective criteria. I have so many questions. Is this at all related to their expected performance- i.e. does this assume a two star who started for his senior season probably overachieved, or the four star who started sporadically...
  13. What cable/satellite channels do I need...

I have YouTube TV, and it has every channel a game could be on, as far as I know. It’s also $40/month.
  14. Athlon: ACC Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2018

I wish this was true, but last year our tackles never touched Roquan.
  15. How would you handle the new redshirt rule?

It really just depends on what the goal for the individual is, which is dependent upon the staff’s evaluation of the player. If they think the player has an opportunity to contribute more than a nominal amount, this gives them the opportunity to play the kid more heavily in early games to be...
  16. David Hale's ACC Position Group Rankings

I guess my point is that each year is independent of one another, and just because there’s continuity doesn’t mean things will be better. For example, he rates our receivers as the worst in the league. It is one thing to say they are unproven, which is valid, but another to say they aren’t...
  17. David Hale's ACC Position Group Rankings

The rankings aren’t completely unreasonable, but it does appear that he’s got some recency biases in them.
  18. 2018 is the door unlocked?

Yep. It’s a unicorn coaches chase. The hope is that Woody can maximize the output of the talent we have by using their skills in a more efficient manner, and hopefully improve tackling.
  19. 2018 is the door unlocked?

Have to stop trying to chase the turnover unicorn. Play better on earlier downs and they will likely follow.

Can you reconcile these two comments?
